3/5 here, 2 4runners, a rav4, my dads explorer (which is a piece o crap) and the jeep (gotta have a 4x4 convertible).

GM corp has, what, 5??? Seems almost unfair to compare... like comparing CocaCola bottling corporation sales to Red Bull sales....

I don't think it makes a difference. GM has a lot of twins and triplets (Silverado and Sierra; Tahoe, Yukon and Escalade, etc.) in their model lineup under five divisions and Toyota has three. I saw somewhere that GM has like 90 models whereas Toyota has about 30 models. Both are automakers and they're strictly comparing vehicle sales (without things like Toyota forklifts, etc).

I have my '05 4Runner (until January, anyway) and my girlfriend has a 2002 V6 Highlander that is soon going to jump the 100,000 mile barrier. Yes, it runs just fine.

My mistake. I was under the impression, you were saying the two were different because GM has many more divisions than Toyota. I understand what you mean now.

This illustrates that if a company can't produce a desireable product, no matter how you spin it, people won't buy it. I believe each Toyota product involves some pretty extensive research and thus Toyota's success. Lexus just completed a survey on what people would want as options for the upcoming IS-F.
