Thermostat only or with housing?

I'm about to change my radiator and was going to replace the thermostat as well. Don't want to go with aftermarket and local dealer's part's guy tells me that it only comes with the "housing" (or whatever it's called).
Is this right?

Water inlet housing is a different part number than the thermostat according to Toyota . They should be sold separately.

+1 on it being a separate part. When I had my timing belt changed on my V8 I was only charged for a thermostat and not a housing. It appears the V6 is the same way. This should be your part:
