It absolutely does, here’s some of the carnage:

I have since ground down the frame and chassis savered it, but have not patched the holes. I just got a mig setup that should make patching easier and then I should be in the clear!

I welded a Coastal Offroad steel front bumper together this last semester at school. Convinced myself for a long time I didn’t need it since I would have to save up forever to get a winch to actually use it, but I wanted another challenging welding project and this fit the bill. 90% of the bumper was done with my little stick welder, which took a very long time for me to learn how to use correctly! Here are my progress pics.

Day before I started ripping it apart and the cleanest my 4runner has ever looked:

Night 1 of progress, felt like grown- up legos

Got it structural enough to drive around town and to home (200 miles away). It stayed like this for longer than I want to admit because of school ramping up

Painted it black to make it more presentable knowing I’d have to keep it unfinished for awhile

Professional high-tier workspace with extra ventilation

I used Raptor Liner to coat it, which is just as easy to spray on and use as everyone says. However, it rained the night I painted it and I moved it hastily to get it out of said storm, ruining a few spots on the outside of the bumper. I will need to repaint it in the future.

Took the bumper back off to chassis saver the back of it. Chassis saver only takes a few hours to dry vs the 3 days raptor liner takes to cure, so it was easier to fit into my schedule.

I painted the apron, radiator support and everything behind the bumper so nothing stood out. The high gloss looks really sharp imo

My buddy gave me a fairlead so I can be a major winch poser. Besides the repaint, I think it still looks good. I thought the panel gaps were reasonable for my first time and am still glad I pulled the trigger on it!

Patched a little more of my frame and added a 90 degree turnout to the exhaust. Can’t wait to find a job and move out once the covid stuff is over so I can have some space!

Took some really clean shots with my sister’s DSLR and MAN I can’t wait for a bigger lift and 35s. Speaking of more lift... Dobinsons springs came in today, taco tabs come in Thursday!

I would also do the All Pro cam tab gussets while you're in there. They go hand in hand and the fitment is great. Easy install also.

I think I’m going to do the marlin crawler gussets down the line, they are super beefy. I just can’t weld in the garage where I live right now so I need to wait to do them

Went to uwharrie this weekend and had a blast. My buddies in the RAV4, Outback and Forester always turn heads on the trail. The locker has a surprisingly steep learning curve with how much agility you lose when you turn it on!

I added taco tabs, deleted my swaybar and added C59-354 Dobinson’s springs this week. I’m very happy I did this mod! Here are the results:

Went from ~3 inches of front rake to ~1 inch, making it look much more level and very capable of handling the big boi weight that lies ahead

Deleting the swaybar and replacing it with 730lb/in springs feels really good. It took away some undesirable handling characteristics (like the steering wheel “sticking” in parking lots at full lock) and no noticeable downsides. I feel confident driving it around and I couldn’t ever say that before on the 885’s with no sway bar.

Cranked my caster from 3 degrees to about 5 and made the front end a lot stronger with the taco tabs

These springs are stiff but not “bad” stiff. The ride is comparable to the 885’s plus swaybar.

Made some AdventureIndex drawers and got to test them out this last weekend! I made them out of MDF, the total cost came to around $350. My dad and I took two weeks and made them after work. I need to make a latching system so that it stays closed, but I’m happy with where they are and will be keeping them in the runner “full time”. Even with a 12 inch sub, there are no rattles and only make noise when they open a little on harder acceleration.

Those look really good! I like the carpeting vs some others I've seen as bare wood or just paint. How did you attach the carpeting? I see some staples on top of the face, but did you need and contact cement or maybe some special carpet adhesive to make it stick well on the large areas?

Also really random, but I see you have a picture of a RD688 Mack (maybe 690?), which I like. I drove one off highway for a summer job and I just really like that body style.

Cool, I really like how yours turned out, the carpeting looks good.

Bummer that COVID screwed up your plans, but seems you found another great opportunity! That sounds like more 4runner budget to me lol
