Oh - if the front turn signal keeps blowing bulbs I'd get a new socket fitted - fairly cheap and you won't be buying any more bulbs - it's a known issue on the 4th Gens

I like my 4th Gen a lot (but I miss my 3rd Gen - it was a great great truck - never had a problem with it).

Couple things I would have preferred not to have had to deal with:

1) the master cylinder causing pulsing/buzzing in the brake pedal.
2) license plate garnish digging into the tailgate paintwork
3) seats not being as comfy as the 3rd Gen. There's less leg room too in the passenger seat.

(1) Sudden, unintended <a href="http://www.toyota-4runner.org/problems-warranty-issues/17181-odd-downhill-engine-behavior.html" target="_blank">DE</a>celeration.
(2) Driveline clunk

no piston slap? i noticed you are in AZ...you are one lucky son offa!
on east coast, Canada. Rust city

I would imagine the piston slap is worse in cold weather but it rarely gets below 50 here. Also low humidity with little rain so no rust even my 91 Jeep wrangler frame and body look like new. I keep my driveshaft greased and never had a problem with it. I never replaced any light bulbs at all the the fuel door looks like it did when it was new.

On our '03 V8:

1) the impending 90k service (we're at 83,500 now, but it is 8+ years old...time to get it done ASAP).

2) seizing calipers

3) driveshaft clunk (is it true that someone in here bought a new Lexus-version driveshaft and it cured that?)

4) (i fixed this already in mine) the fan re$i$tor.

1) piston slap drives me F'n crazy
2) Ive got the loose seat track that was never fixed per TSB i believe
3) drive line clunk was a pain till I stated keeping it greased, now no prob

other than that she runs great with 104k on er

I have this same damn issue, esp. when i put the car from OFF to ON without starting it. They damn thing buzzes and pressurizes. Passengers are always wondering what the hell that sound is... " Dude you should get your car checked, maybe there is a recall on the brakes? " drives me nuts!

I suspect it is part of the PRE-PRESURIZER ON THE BRAKES, so that when you have an emergency the system is already pressurized, When the RIG has been running for a while the pressure is maintained from the engine vacuum line.

Too many "tool" features on this rig.

Other than the infamous driveline clunk, I have had no problems whatsoever with my 2003 Limited.

sounds like you need to grease the transmission points. I do every time I do an oil change, and i rarely have the driveline clunk issue. If memory serves me correctly, there are 6 points to be greased. You can get any regular grease gun from autozone to lowes. I usually end up using mobil 1 synthetic high grade grease. Its red on top of everything else so you'll be able to tell when the transmission points are filled and regreased.

hope that helped.

1) I HATE THAT TOO, i end up tugging on the gas door a little when i open it so it doesnt mark it up as much.... but nothings really working... and plus when I go to NJ to get gas, it ends up getting marked up WORSE because of the gas attendings (not their fault)
