Think I finally found a 3rd gen

I think thats what I am going to have to do. I work weekends so its a huge pain trying to get off work. But I could be looking at a LONG wait homding out for the perfect rig close by.

Working weekends might actually work in your favor. That's when everyone has time to go fight for that 4runner you and everyone else wants.

I was off work for a week when I found mine. I went to go see it on a Wednesday at noon. I was told by the seller there was multiple interest and had about 6 people lined up to see it at 6pm (i'm assuming after everyone gets off work).

I took me 3 months of searching night and day, high and low. You made a tough decision, I can't even tell you if I would have made the same decision.

if work weekends could go pick up during week when you are off too. fly up about time seller gets off work, pick up that evening, drive home that night

use CL and check cities within 3-4 hours, check ebay, autotrader,

what is your price range/year range? what must it have, what can't it have, etc

I appreciate that man! I am not picky at all. 4x4 auto transmission. I prefer to stick around the 150k mark. Limited are nice, but I am open to any trim. I don't do any hard core off-roading.

Visiting sellers will be easier with the time change. Over winter I would have been looking in the dark.

Like I said; go with your gut. I've regretted buying at least one vehicle- and I definitely wasn't sure it was a good buy. Even though everything looked good, and it was- logically- a good buy, it was deceiving.
2007 Audi A3 S-Line 6 speed. Found out the guy had blown up the engine, and had just replaced it 2 weeks before I got it. Of course he didn't disclose that. Also found out the rear quarter panel had been repaired, and the work wasn't stellar. No accidents according to CarFax. Hardest car I've ever sold. Took over 6 months. 2007 6 speed 335i- on the other hand- sold for $1,500 over what I paid for it. And that was 18mos and 20k miles later! Got it from a BMW enthusiast who took meticulous care of it. Regret selling that incredibly bad.
Maybe that 2002 could have been a great rig, but the parasitic draw, 4WD not working, and spark plugs never being changed- better safe than sorry [emoji1360]

Hey bud. The one that 4x4 did not work was actually a different vehicle. The guy has since contacted me and said 4x4 is now engaging. He said cleaning the MAF sensor did the trick.

I think I am going to purchase his truck. 141k miles. 2002 limited. Some surface rust, but overall looks clean. TB/WP was changed at 125k.


Tough call with the Audi. I had a buddy blow the motor on one!
