I have owned a 3rd gen for a bunch of years and my wife says that it is only my truck when it breaks.
That being said, I spotted a 1st gen around the corner from me at work. I called the guy, and he says its an 89. The odometer has 187k on it. Its a manual transmission, but I'm not sure if it is a 4 or 6 cylinder. He says the fuel gauge doesn't work. It has what appears to be standard rot on the quarters and fenders, and other than the exhaust, the undercarriage looks alright- no major leaks.
What other types of concerns/issues should I look for? He's asking $1500, which I think is alot since it won't pass Maryland inspection with the exhaust and rot problems. I live in Delaware and they are alot less strict on what passes inspection.
Before I go jumping in with both feet, I figured that I would ask those in the know about this truck. It'll fit right in with my fleet of "junkers" (as my wife tells it)
Thank you.
