I'm going to say yes to this. I didn't think so when I first put my 881's on, but after a few days my CV's started spitting out grease on both sides. The diff drop kits are cheap so its not a big deal there...the problem comes in when you decide not to reinstall the original skid plate and go get budbuilt skids instead....then the belly plate....then the gas tank skid(DUHOCKEY!!!AHHHH!!!!)...and so on and so on....
Thats the set-up I went with. I didn't get the diff drop when I ordered but did about a week later. They leaked and I put hose clamps around them which did help. When I did finally get the diff drop in, the CV's leaked real bad the first time I drove it. I tightened up the clamp another little bit and have been good to go ever since.

I installed the same setup without a diff drop about 6 months ago and just noticed my driver side CV starting to go yesterday, I would recommend it, it's cheap insurance...
