Currently on 285/75/16 load E. And in all honesty, I think they are to much for the 3rd gen. I personally think the wheel bearings and the suspension components aren’t strong enough to handle these tires. Yes, it can. But parts don’t last as long. I’m thinking about 32” tire. Maybe 255. Any one have any pics of this with a 3” lift ?

The issue you are looking at is more about weight from the Load Range E than tire size. Just my opinion; find your new tires with an eye on their weight and you will be in better shape - up or down in size.
The cooper st maxxs only comes in E. and it was $400

I always tell people to also think about tread pattern as well as stance. If you get something with an aggressive tread and widen the stance, I don't think it looks bad at all. Personally for daily driving, I think it's perfect. I've been running 265/75's with a 3" lift and never felt like the tire size was an issue. But I also don't do nearly as much dirt driving as I used to.
Also agree with the others on keeping the load rating in mind. E is such overkill (unless you're doing some heavy rock crawling) on these rigs. So heavy and so stiff. I'm in the same boat right now. I've been really unhappy with my Duratracs, but it's one of the only all terrain tire made in 265/75-16 in a C load. I love the LC wheels I have, so I'd prefer to stay in them. But it's looking like I'll need to go up to 17's to get back into a C load BFG.

I love my 235/85-16 pizza cutters. Perfect hight for lift I think. I have idk 2.5" lift or something and its not a solid looks.
I get like 17-20mpg. 20-21 flat freeway 70-75mph.

Yeah. I had general grabbers at2 C rated. The difference in sidewalls between c and e is insane. I could stand on my at2 tire. And the the side wall wouldn’t really support my weight. The e rated tire is like a rock. It definitely feels safer when your on a rocky trail and aired down. But, I do miss C rated. The coopers I have now ha e more then half life along with brand new spare. Im considering selling them and getting something else but smaller also.

Goodyear Authority comes in load range C at that size. They are equally as good, if not better, as the duratracs. Ask me how i know. I am on my 5th set.

265x75x16 is a 31.5" tire and a great size for these trucks. I have 285s but I ran the slightly smaller size for many many years and went on lots of wheeling trips with them.
My 285s are load range D not E. General Tire AT2. They are still heavy as sh#t. I imagine E would be worse but not by that much.

Yeah; recently went through a few weeks of tire selection issues myself. I am pretty sure this will be my last set of 16s. There are not enough options in the C range for the size of tires I am running. I will end up going to 17s to get back on C range tires and dropping 20 lbs per tire. Dropping 20 pounds per tire of unsprung weight is a big deal for the acceleration/ braking/ and steering components.

I agree with others that 265/75/16 is a great size for our 4Runners. I've been running BFG KO2's in that size and despite the heavier weight, I've been very happy with them overall. For whatever reason, I think the listed diameter for the newer 265/70/17 sizes that come on newer 4Runners (and has a lot more C range options) is exactly the same as a 265/75/16.... even though that doesn't make mathematical sense.

Haven’t had snow here yet. In the rain they seem good. I don’t go slower on the rain around corners!
Gotta see if general at2 come in that. Maybe load range d. Little tougher for off road.

AT2 is discontinued unfortunately. They are a great tire though and some places do still have sold old stock still.
Oh shit. Really ? Why? I’d run 265/75/16 cooper st maxx load range D if they have them in it. Seems though there are more tires for 17” rims. I might have to buy a whole new set with rims. And sell my 5 tires/rims.
What are some good 265/75/16 all terrain tires. And please if ya can share photos

Absolute best tires I have personally run to date are the Falken Wildpeak AT3W I have 14000 miles on my 2016 and I am on my 4th set of tires. Yeah, I get bored easily. Anyway, OEM set came off right away and KO2s went on. I like them, but wanted for aggressive so I went with the Ridge Grappler. As much as I loved the look of the Ridge Grappler, they are absolutely downright scary in the rain so those had to go. Swapped them out for the AT3W and I love them so far. Truth be told, I miss having a 295 and the AT3W is not offered in a 295 so I will likely switch them out for the Mickey Thompson ATZ P3 in the near future. I am eyeing up the ST MAXX also however I don't have very high hopes for them in wet weather. With all that said, I ran the Grabber AT2 on my 2016 Tacoma and I was very happy with it. My father is on his 2nd set of AT2's on his 2005 Grand Cherokee and loves them also. 60K mile tire easy as long as you properly rotate them and his truck is AWD so likely a little more on a selectable 4wd system.
