thinking of cutting the top

hey guys i got a spare top i was thinking of ways on cutting it. anyone seen or did a cool transformation. its the extra one i have lying around so I'm gonna cut that bad boy...any ideas, pics or thoughts would be cool...weather is getting nice so its time to go topless .......(. )( .).....haha..thnx in advance

yea i like the cut hard top look...i like the soft tops to but i dot wanna spend that kinda cash on the soft tops rite now...i already spent to much on the lift and wheels.....haha...oh well...it was worth it...haha

I cut my extra top up a couple of months ago and added canvas for a removable top and removable clear vinyl windows. Check out the thread here http://www.toyota-4runner.org/classic-t4rs/175865-custom-rag-top-soft-top.html#post1775051

The best part is I can still use the rear window. This would work great for you because you could close everything back up if you wanted to crank the AC up or remove the windows and top to let the wind blow through.

ive got a spare top also, and have been considering this.

im more thinking of bobbing it.

if I want it OPEN, i'll just take the top OFF. but I would like the entire thing shorter, with the top to match. I havent figured out exactly how im doing it yet tho.

thats really a great idea on the rag top. i was thinking on doing sliding one on my good top one of these days. but i like how you did yous...i mite have to bite on cut out rag with no side windows...

There are also electric sliding rag top kits. Expensive, but awesome looking.

Imagine another button on your console where you can just slide the whole roof back.

That'd be pretty slick.

That said, I'm in the camp where I want all of the sides open, but I still want a roof over my head to keep the sun off. Seems like the Softopper type setup is my jam, but I still give the hard top modifications some thought in my spare time.

yup I'm with you on that...a soft top is way cool, but like you said hard top mods are cool to.....
