Thinking about installing an LED light bar in my non functional hood scoop....what'cha guys think? Or has someone already done it and has a nice write up of what he did...?? :biggrin2:

I'll be honest, I still wonder what to do with the scoop and the LED bar is a neat idea... Maybe I'll just cram some current gen NV and IR goodies in there for night driving!

nope, never gotten a ticket (knocking on wood) most of the time I would get complement from the cops.

Dude... seriously? You have too many lights! What good do the HIDs do you now Keak? You got them blocked off by more lights! LoL

Never had problems with cops getting you for lights down here, or lifts, or other crazy mods. Just have to keep lights turned off on the road and you're usually good. They're more likely to bust you here (Southern Va) for a radar detector -_- , or limo tint.

I'm driving to VA beach in an hour. I have tints and a radar detector... I hate Virginia.

Dang man. I live 20 minutes from VB in Chesapeake. Tint you should be fine unless you're driving like an ass and as far as the radar detector goes. Just unplug it and put the power cord in the glovebox or center console and you'll be good.
Legality
The laws here in Texas are pretty lax compared to most places. I see cars and trucks rolling around with all kinds of lights facing front.
As long as they aren't "impersonating an officer" with colored flashers it seems ok. Like most things though, some people abuse it and get pulled over for being careless and irresponsible.

What about just putting the LED bar behind the mesh and leaving it stock looking? This way the light shines through the grill and the cops think it's still stock? I don't see why it wouldnt be possible? I also want to do something what that stupid hood scoop, might as well stick an LED bar in there for some extra light

I'm pretty sure there is a thread where someone did this. Maybe over on the tacoma forums, and it came out pretty good.
