Thinking of selling my first gen.

What do you think it is worth? 89 150k new motor 5-10k new everything cost over 2k. All Pro everything, SAS, 35" tires stock rear gears 4.10 not sure of the fronts. V6 5spd, sunroof, all power options cruise ect. PDLs not working, but everything else does. The bad it has a rebuilt title (only front fender has been replaced). I think it had suspension damage hence the SAS. Sourthern truck with only 2 small rust spots. Would $6500 be to much?

Well it depends on what the buyer you find is willing to pay I suppose...

My first instinct is that you're over double what the truck is worth at $6500...

SAS and a rebuilt engine don't necesarrily add what was spent to the selling price of the truck.

There is a thread right above yours where th poster bought a 95 runner with V6 and 4wd for $3k. With deals like that around its going to hard to get much for a truck as old as yours.

I'd be shocked if you got more than $2500 for it, but it never hurts to try.

The the rebuilt title will be a problem for most buyers, and will the SAS pass inspection ?
35's and stock 4.10's is also an issue, not only will the speedo be way off (inspection problem) but there can not be much power.

If you can find he right buyer you might get more, but 2500 or so sounds reasonable to me too (unless you can work out the problems).

No inspections here, speedo has been corrected. I have been offered over 5k on it three different times. These are hard to find here. I have seen maybe 20 around here in the last 2 years all rusted out. $2500 stock maybe. Guess it all depends where you live.

Local auto trader shows:

$100 Lowest price
$3,671 Average price

Lowest was for $100 wrecked, rusted and blown motor.

Next to lowest: 1987 198,843 miles needs motor $1,700

I'm not trying to be a smartass here or am I trying to bag on you or anything at all...

I compare a 95 to an 89 simply because the 95 is worth more and was an illustrative example.

Serious modifications like your truck has actually drops the value of it because it narrows down the market.

My own personal experience with rebuilt engines hasn't been that great either. There is no replacement for the stock motor. I believe in this to the point that a person advertising a rebuilt motor in my eyes is actually a drawback.

In my own personal opinion, if you can get $5k for it you should have taken it on the spot.

Simply stating a '95 is more more than an '89 is stupid. The '89 may have 100K miles and the '95 300K miles. The '95 may have been wrecked in the front and the '89 not. How is the interior?

Serious modifications do not drop the value. They do however narrow the market. Your vehicle is worth what someone is willing to pay. If you have had several offers of $5K then I'd say it is worth $5K or more. How long are you willing to have the truck in your driveway until it sells is the next question.

If you are comparing apples to apples, the newer truck will always be worth more. It's kind of, let me think of the word here, well stupid to think that I would compare his modified 89 runner to a wrecked 95 isn't it?

From kbb per your first example. An 89 with 100k and a 95 with 300k:

Even in your example the '95 is worth more. And, assuming there are at least a couple of 95 trucks out there that are in decent to good shape with low miles the comparison will be even better for the newer trucks.
