Do you think it would be possible to cut the 8” hole a little larger to squeeze a JL audio 10TW5 in the JBL enclosure?

I believe that you can order the box without the subwoofer separately. I'm not sure since I got mine from a member on here.
Possibly, but I'm not sure. It's designed for an 8" so I'm not sure how much extra plastic you would need to cut but I would doubt it would work, especially with the depth issue. My 8w3v3 barely fit but it sounds amazing

My mistake, it’s actually a 10tw3. It’s the shallow mount sub so i was hoping itd be thinner than the 8w3. I have a digital design 8 inch sub but that magnet is far too large for the jbl enclosure.

It's hard to say, that enclosure is pretty tight, another 2" in diameter is asking a lot

Yeah I just took out the third row and checked out the enclosure space. I don't think it is going to work.... lol so I guess I will throw in a 8w3 in there as well. Did you run the 8w3 with the stock JBL amp at all? This is definitely a noob question but I see that there are 2 harnesses in the JBL sub and the 8w3 only has one positive and one negative terminal. Am I supposed to combine the two negatives and positives together from the harnesses and hook them up to the 8w3?

I didn't because my truck didn't come with the JBL system, I added the sub enclosure and amp to my stock "premium" radio
For the stock amp yes, I would combine the 2 positive and negative connections together to power the 8w3

I'm going to amazon prime an 8w3, maybe some rear door speakers and run it off the stock amp for awhile to see how it is. I have a 500/1 that I will throw in eventually but do not want to if i don't have to. Thank you very much for all of your help!! :becky:

Please post pics when you install the 8w3 on your JBL system. I've been wanting to do this for a while but have been waiting for someone else to be the guinea pig.

I did not take pictures but I followed the exact same steps that 97BlackAckCL posted previously. The only difference being the wiring. The stock subwoofer has 2 harnesses in the enclosure. I combined the two positive wires with butt connectors to speaker wire and did the same with the negative. The positive wires were yellow and green. The negatives were black and purple.
I installed the 8w3 today in the stock JBL enclosure and it sounds great but it is definitely underpowered. I’m going to hook up a JL slasher 500/1 this weekend. Hopefully I can get a clean signal from tapping into the rear sub.
does it still sound better than stock underpowered? If you had to go with stock or JL with no extra amp, what would you do?

Cleans up the signal from the stock amp and converts it to a signal to the amp with RCA's, I bought it for my 4th gen and never used it

Thank you for offering!. I have an lc6i but I don’t think I want to use that because it takes up a lot of space. So I needed up ordering a cheap scosche LOC-80 and will try that out. I also might splice a pair of RCA’s open and go directly to the amp. I’m just trying to find the cleanest signal possible.
I think the stock jbl with sound dampening might provide a little bit more bass but idk the only bass I really hear are from the front door speakers right now lol hopefully that changes when I hook up an amp tomorrow evening
those 6x9s really putting out some bass?

The 6x9’s in the doors are unreal. The bass is very clean and low. Sounds so much better than topping out the stock door speakers every time the bass hits.
I thought you had just replaced the fronts, but your signature shows the C2 650x as well. Did you put those in your rear doors and the hatch? Do they need an adapter kit?
I see that the JL audios are 4ohm. I thought our system was a 2.3 ohm system. Do you have to crank the volume to get the same volume out of the 4ohm speakers? I was leaning towards the JBL GTOs b/c they are 3 ohm. (already bought the GTO329s and they been sitting in box for over a year)
