For the 4runner. Was rear-ended (me stopped, rear-ender doing 55) Sunday night. 4runner is totaled. Looking at upgrading to the Sequoia.

My wife and daughter were taken by ambulance to the emergency room to be checked out. We are all OK, just some major bruises.

Happy with the 4runner how it did in the crash and that we were OK.

Wife said we are getting a bigger truck.

Bought the 4runner in August of 2012, had it a little over 5 months.

We were rear-ended by a Ford F150 with the off-road package. I was trying to go left off the road, and he was trying to go right. Didn't work.

The truck looks screwed...but did it's job...good luck with the process and the new truck!

Yep 4Runner did its job and kept you safe. Just make sure your wife knows bigger doesn't equal safer, some of the safest vehicle on the road are small sedans. Personally I hate seeing someone driving a Suburban or crew cab 1 ton truck because they think they are safer yet have no use for a vehicle that size.

Sorry that happened. My '03 was totaled last year. I wasn't rear ended but was hit by a minivan doing 40. Words can't describe what it feels like to be in a wreck like that. The impact, being thrown around, the noise, those who were unlucky enough to be in an accident know exactly what I'm talking about. These 4Runners are amazing trucks and their safety is definitely top notch (I only had a couple bruises, didn't even get checked). Good luck with the new Sequoia when you get it.

buy it back and bob it, haha, sorry to hear! there is nothing worse than loosing a good vehicle , also glad everyone is ok...it seemed to handle the f-150 with a grain of salt all things considered, good to know they hold up that well in a high speed collision!

Wow - you got hit HARD by a big vehicle. I'm happy to see the protection the 4Runner provided. My Budbuilt rear bumper purchase just moved up on my priority list. I am sorry for your loss of the vehicle, but I am very very happy with the way your vehicle looks after being slammed by an F150 doing 55mph. It looks like if a passenger had been in the 3rd row seat, they would have had an actual chance of surviving as well!

yeah 50 and 40mph are harsh... glad everyone is ok, and dont let any soreness sit, get therapy right away

i was t-boned (me going 35 and them going "under 20") and the noise/whiplash was incredible, had it up on two wheels for a little in a chevy cargo van sounds like

This is really scary, especially since I have a one year old.

I hope I never get into a wreck like this one, but I'm glad that if it does happen (lord willing it will be just me in the car, with my wife and baby safe at home), I'll be in my Toyota SUV.

This isn't the first time I've heard of a Toyota looking like the accident wasn't as bad as it should've been.

Hope you recover from your bruises quickly.

Not fun at all. Glad everyone is OK. That must have been one tall F150. Was the driver texting/talking on the phone?

I'd save your pennies and upgrade to the Landcruiser.

no doubt haha that thing doesn't even have a scratch I'm starting to get the idea that Toyota's air bags aren't all that sensitive. I've seen two rear endings at 35+mph no air bags, two roll overs no air bags, and now a rear ending at 50+mph and no air bags interesting.

Why would you want airbags when you get rear ended or in a rollover?

They aren't supposed to just pop up when a car is bumped and they really hurt -I speak from experience.

I wouldn't want them to. just taking notice that they seem to be less sensitive than other cars.
I know they hurt i was punched in the back of the head with my wife's driver side curtain air bag when we grazed a raised man-hole cover with the front crossmember

I would think though durring a major roll over they would go off but I've known someone to roll at 45+mph an no bags at all just interesting
