Well, I just got off the phone with Discount Tires. They don't have the BFG A/T KO in 275/70/17 in stock and it is in back order. Not only Discount Tires but a lot of other places don't have them either. That size is back ordered at BFG and they are saying 6-8 weeks.

For those of you that run that size, did you have problem finding them when you needed it?

I wanted that size because they were the biggest I can fit in the spare tire location. I was hoping to get them this week, since I just got my Cornfed 3/2 lifts here yesterday. Plus I have been planning this for a while, because I hate the Dunflops that I still have on. I guess back to the drawing board to what I tires and size I can live with for the next several thousand miles.

Does anyone have the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 in 285/70/17 in the spare tire location? They are less knobby, just wondering if they fit...

I spoke with Onlinetires.com a while back while they were having a sale on this size ($159/tire + shipping btw) and they had them in stock then. This was about 2 months ago so im sure their stock levels have changed.

I am very interested in this size as well due to it being the absolute largest possible without any mods. However, as you said, this is not a common size. Are you set on the BFGs? There are a few other tires in this size: Cooper ATR and ST, Goodyear Silent Armor and AT/S, Mastercraft Courser C/T, Firestone Destination AT. Also a few new ones coming out: Cooper A/T 3 and ST Maxx, MT Baja STZ Radial.

I have no experience with cramming a 285/70 in spare location lol. Sorry to hijack your thread just very interested in this size and wanted to give you some more options if you haven't already considered them.
 
Yeah, my 265/70/17 Yoko Geolandar A/T-S barely fits in the spare tire holder, it's crammed in there at a super weird angle, doesn't sit flat, but it works. I can't imagine an even more aggressive tire in any bigger size, even slightly bigger, fitting there at all.

Hmmm....the Geo AT/S seems to run large for an AT in that size. Its listed as 10.8x31.9 on Tire Rack.
 
I was set on those, but now I'm open for other tires and size. I liked the looked of the BFG A/T KO. Not to say that the other ones are bad.

I've seen people fit that size in the spare, like the link that Chaz provided. Each particular brand measures just a little different and people have it at different psi too, I would think. I guess the lift won't go on for a couple more days. No reason other than just wanting to do it all at once.
 
Well, I decided to go with the 265/70/17 Cooper Discoverer STT's. Several factors that led to those. No one had the BFG's that I wanted or in that particular size. Not only that but, I have 2 flat tires with the Dunflops. One has a nail that I can see. The other one is just leaking air from somewhere, can't seem to find it. But will lose tire pressure over a couple of days time. And finally it is too cold for me to spend numerous hours outside, and had a lot of trouble trying to change the tires. The darn thing just won't come off the hubs. Found the discoverer in stock and I am getting it installed today. Eliminates me doing all the work outside and I wouldn't have to worry about the flats too. Plus it gives a little time for the weather to warm up so I can put the Cornfed 3/2 on. I know the tires will look a little bit smaller but, I already have the Cornfeds.
 
Nevermind, the idiot at the shop can't put it on. I told him over the phone that it will be taller than stock. Could they put it on. He told me yes, I set an appointment. I went there and they rolled it in, then did the math and said it was not stock. I pointed out that it was taller than stock when I called. Long story short, they wasted my time. The guy was still trying to sell me the tires too. I told him, I would rather give my business to whomever would install the tires for me.
 
Don't just settle for tires you didn't want. Spend the couple bucks to get the leaks fixed in your current tires so you have some time to put your lift on and then get the bigger tires. If you buy smaller tires now you're just gonna be pissed off after you put your lift on because you didn't wait and get what you wanted.

Well, I have not been successful yet.... I have let out all air except about 4 lbs..I have a big sinch strap and plan on compressing the tire a bit to allow the sinch strap to hold at that compressed size...It is a hassle and if this does not work, the spare is going on top for now.

How can Toyota design an off-road vehicle that can not accomodate a larger tire....duh.
