I posted that video in the Land Cruiser thread. It is so tough to watch, especially seeing the view from inside. I would have loved to buy a 3rd gen 4Runner just like that too- it looked like a base model. I am glad our taxpayer money is going to destroying vehicles that have much more life left in them. I think our government forgot one thing: Japanese cars are still considered new with over 100k on them. They are not like our domestic vehicles, which start breaking down at half the mileage.

Sorry, this is bit long winded, but I feel it's important that people realize what is happening.

Obama's intentions are crystal clear to me. He intends to socialize this nation, destroying our free market economy in the process.

I realize that thanks to the current status of our political indoctrination system err... Public School system, most of you younger people won't recognize what's happening here. You older folks, who went through the schools before they were trashed probably see the parallels between Obama and Hitler just as clearly as I do. For those who do not see it, I would suggest studying the history of Germany during the 1920's through the mid-1930's. There are some amazing similarities there.

Look at some of the things going on today.

Led by Nancy Pelosi and other people on the left, there is a movement afoot to restore the "Fairness Doctrine" to broadcasting. The would effectively silence political views from the right side of the spectrum from being aired on licensed broadcast stations by requiring the to provide free air time to opposing views from the left. For example, in order to air a profitable Conservative talk show for 3 hours, the station would be required to provide 3 hours free air time to a commentator with an opposing view

Conservative talk radio has been very successful for 20+ years now. There is a very profitable market for it. Liberal / Left-leaning talk radio has failed miserably almost everywhere it has been tried, so since they cannot get people to want to listen to their views, they want to silence the opposition by any means necessary.

There is also a bill being considered that would give the White House control of the Internet. http://news.cnet.com/8301-13578_3-10320096-38.html

Any government, particularly one like that which ours is morphing into would fear the freedom of communication the 'net affords private citizens.

It certainly sounds like the left is trying to establish control over the media.

No offense , it's fine fine you have conservative views and all, but why don't you take them to one of your favortite conservative forums or radio shows, whichever one is your favorite one to discuss your conspiracy theories. If your going to make political posts like this, why don't you discuss how the bush administration censored and limited free speech, you might be surprised.

I don't get all of the politics or emotions surrounding the program. I just see the economics. I know that all the talk about getting old cars off the street and raising fuel efficiency was feel-good BS. The fact is that the plan got people to buy new cars. It boils down to this: if a vehicle was worth less than $3,500-$4,500 and the owner was willing to take the rebate now and put it into a new car, then the plan worked. All of the cars that were crushed had a value less than $4,500. You can argue that some were crushed before their time and could have lasted longer without major repairs, but it's not like they were crushing expensive cars just for the sake of crushing cars.

Frankly, I think "cash for clunkers" was a much, much better idea than the first plan of simply handing GM and Chrylser tens of billions of dollars. Putting the money in the hands of consumers let the free market work, and it also created a ripple effect for dealers, parts suppliers, junkyards, and state and local sales taxes.

You're right, I started it and we're way off topic. My last parting shot before we get back to the destruction of perfectly good T4Rs isn't as much a shot as an invitation. I think I speak for many, it's not a Republican/Democrat issue anymore. It used to be. Now it's American issue and it's about living as the forefathers intended or not... Unfortunately the 'experts' we've hired to represent us in this republic have failed us. We need to refocus, learn and hire new folks.

I think the most painful part was that moaning sound when he tried to crank it up one last time.

Dont get that upset these vehicle espically ones like this t4r are ethier parted out at the scrap yard or sold overseas and people put new engines in them, its just that its the end of the road for them in america.

Those of use who didnt buy a car through the program paid for it. I dont see Uncle Obama reaching into his pocket and paying for this.

My heart about broke for the '89 Land Cruiser that same guy video'd. First vehicle I ever had was an '88 FJ62 that was grey just like the one they seized up. They couldn't believe the engine went for over 12 minutes and still cranked over (they did trim the vid down to about 6.5 minutes). That was one of, if not, the toughest truck I've ever had.
