thorridder build thread

what kinda lights do you have on the basket? i am looking for some rectangular ones to put on mine

the round are hella but the rec ones are just walmart and auto zone ones, i really like the beam they put off to as to the round but now i have the 4 round and tryed them tonight and they are sweet

mine is kinda loose so i just used blue painters tape and slipped it under it a lil and did 2 or 3 wide then covered the space around with news paper, and took my plates off and taped behind it
i just got black plastic spray paint from auto zone and didnt primmer or anything just did thin coats for start
it looks really good for all that i did to it

Thanks for the information. Should be great help when i get to painting it.
Also sweet 4runner looks awesome.

got some pics people wanted, finishing it later today but has been too cold and windy to work on it, finished pics later

Nice 4Runner here. I have one question though. What did you use to black out your emblems?

just black plastic paint from autozone, didnt prime or anything just scuffed them up a lil and did like 4-5 light coats. i had the old gold ones to practice on first. it was easy for the most part

Thanks for the info. I have the crappy gold ones on my red 4runner and they look horrible. gold is flaking off and everything so i was going to give it a try.

nice build so far. i like the set up on the roof. can't decide what kind of light lense to use..circular or rectangular.

i got a question for ya sorry if you arleady mentioned it i was drooling at all your lights... haha

Are you running these things all off a sngle battery? if so what are you using to hook them to the positve terminal?

think he hooked it up all to the positive battery terminal with C clamps. should use a fuse blox tho. still sick..think im going the hella 500 route

this came up talking to a guy who had a FJ cruiser at a motorcycle shop too
my 10 lights and 3000w sound system is run off the same battery......
just have like 4-5 light wires going to the battery too, its a mess under the hood
i know it will trash the battery for sure but im out of money for now, come summer i will prolly get another battery and a bigger alternator to power everything just to be safe.
and thanks for the light thing, thats like the 3-4x i have heard that haha it took 20 min to place just the front lights and like 8 hrs to get it all working for just the lights not the shovel and jack thing :ybrick: but i like it and its worth it

My main question is how did you route all those wires? I have 6 lights on the rack and it was a pain! Are they on seperate switches or all on one?

Nice light setup. Sure would be nice if there was a good heavy-duty fuse block harness out there for the 3rd gen. I might have to work on this. I'm sure someone already has it figured out though.

yes they were very much a pain bc it doesnt fit in the shop anymore... all outside and it got dark early now and not having the right things
did 4 front all on one switch that is a @ 12v 50A power heavy duty switch, did all 6 side and back on one switch, ran all the wires through conduit and zip tied it to the rack, my fingers were killing me when i got done should have got bigger conduit, then just ran the wire through all the inside panels to the battery
