thorridder build thread

I dont have any big bars i have to plastic pieces on the top that are almost flush with the vehicle

then i would say get some steel and make your own mounts and either make them screw into the rack you have or after i get the extension im making my own and just bolting through the roof because with the big bars across it sits kinda high for my looks and i want it lower to the top.

it really wouldnt be that hard to make some even if you dont have big tools to do it, if you wanted that i can give you some more specific ideas on mounting.

finally have internet to update some

got my rola extension
lowered light bar
big spare
made a mount for the tire but was not what i thought
2"BL
no more rubbing
going to finish deck plate mod
working on functional hood scoop
working on bumper lift stuff

well there ya go

glad to see you got the 2" BL installed, what did you do with regards to the radiator, did you drop it or just lower the bottom fan shroud?

day 1 was trying to figure the drop bracket for hours. after here and calling the guys they said you dont have to, was just going to cut the bottom of the lip off but when removing it found out with two clips the bottom the the funnel part comes right off and it fixed it. tool me and my friend maybe 1-2 hours to get the blocks on with the use of the hi-lift. the steering shaft was about the hardest part. doing the bumper lift tomorrow.

Oh I just had to ask because I recently replaced my 1" BL to a 1.5" and I found that on my 97, the rad fan would hit the lower shroud, by that I mean the fan is stuck shut without no way of spinning, so i decided to just lower the radiator instead of just freeing the fan from the lower shroud.

It involved more work though but I had time in my hands anyway.

The steering shaft's always been the icky part of doing BL, I do believe it's due to the location of one of the 2 14mm or 12mm nut on the rag joint (if I'm not mistaken on the size), located in front of the steering shaft not being readily accessible.

Wish I had an extra pair of hands like you did, though.

Hey Thor, Do you often come down to Edmond? I swear ive seen this parked off of boulevard just north of 33rd near the sonic in an apartment complex.

Close to 2 months ago I literally turned around while driving my family back home to pass by what may have been your rig for a double take, it looked so good that day.. BADASS RIG. Now i always look for it where I saw it to try and get a close up look.

You think it could have been yours?

even after all we did we just gave up on the rad, it doesnt hit now and should work good. the shaft was really stick, was afraid of breaking it trying to get the bolts loose, but i just undid one bolt and held it while my bud turned the wheel to get to the other one.

TacticalSR5:
no that was not me, im in enid, stillwater, and around blackwell mostly. but thats really funny what you did :bravo:

finally got the bumper back on. was very hard with all the new holes we had to make. guard will be on tomorrow. and working on Crown Royal shift boots.

finally got the front back on and turned out great and even better than it was. went climbing and with the 2" BL tires didnt even touch so that was great, no probs at all and thank god its not stupid high. basically done now besides armor and that will take a while.

and i love random 4Runner parking :thumb3:

How wide are the 17 inch wheels you got there. Im also curious about the backspacing as well. Im thinking of going with 17x9 deep dish wheels and a set of 33x12.50s. I just got the toyotec ultimate lift kit with the 1" BL in last week. I will be ordering wheels and tires this week. thanks in advance.

they are 33 12.5 17. not sure how much i can help with that because i bought the rims for the tires for the truck so they dont hit, they are +16mm offset meaning touches the hub 16mm to the outside off center of the rim. i have a 2.5-3" with the 2" BL and dont have rub problems at all with the add of the BL, did before it, but dont even when wheeling now.

side note i love the 12.5" wide look on it because of the mean big look

long over due update:

-working on getting new tires and tube bumper and winch for Christmas.
-getting rid of all blue lights and sound system
-ended up blowing the gears out of the back, 4 teeth in a rown then 2 more a couple after, so got 4.56 gears with front locker because the D-BAG wouldnt send the rear locker axle. had to sell my 86 PU to fund that..
-now has christmas lights on it
-taking rear stickers off because they are pealing off and dont plan on putting them back
-rear window motor is toast, looking for another but new are $450
-lots of little things will be done over break like shorted door speakers and cleaning, cant do that stuff at school
-going to make a roof top tent too, should be fun
-took semi mud flaps and are held back with chains, got tires of throwing rocks at myself
-got my "Protected By AR-15" sticker
