Those dang pedestrian signs

Anybody know what kinda damage those babies can do to a car? I was really distracted on the road today and didn't really take notice of this tall pedestrian sign placed on the yellow line. Now I may or may not have hit it, but since I come across these dumb signs everyday, I might as well ask... would they cause damage to a car? And where should I look when I get home? I rant on and on about these to my wife because they are just so pointless. Instead of looking out for pedestrians, I just get distracted by the sign itself! I think we should go back to crosswalks. The sign doesn't trigger me into a pedestrian mindset, it just makes me want to avoid the sign. That's enough of my rant. But seriously folks, humor me. What are those annoying signs capable of as far as damage?

I do appreciate this. If you really have no clue, that's fine. It's not an emergency. Just something I've been curious about for a long time. My wife is all worried about her brand new 06 Civic too. I've created a whole web of insecurity in my household. LOL.

you mean the folding types they put in the middle of the road? i hate those, i completely agree that im more worried about dodging the sign rather then a person.

I think you're going to have to help us out by providing pictures of what you're talking about.

I would guess that the thought-rationale for the signs is that you'll slow down and pay special attention to avoid hitting the signs, making it (a little bit) safer for pedestrians attempting to cross.

If it's the 'T' shaped (top view, looking down on them) plastic ones like what they use at the toll plaza and at Costco with the little flat top cones that are glued to the ground about 2" high, they won't damage your car. However, I'm not sure about the actual pedestrian sign attached to the plastic poles. I've ran over the poles with my other car (not my 4R, of course) at Costco and at other parking lots so I don't have to drive around up the aisles. They bend at the base, but since they're meant to be upright, it'll drag and scrap along the undercarriage. I didn't even notice any scuff marks on my bumper when I pushed the poles over. :
