Those of you that are scared to tow in your 4Runners

i tried move some pavers for my freind once i hooked into the trailer with my soft lc coils it started to lift the front tires

I have towed a 4runner with a 4runner before. Didn't have any problems at all. I've also pulled two 4runners(both in park) about 25ft :thumb3:

4runners(especially our 3rd gens) are beasts!

How much weight are y'all towing? Y'all doing any highway?

I really don't think the 3rd Gens would be very effective towing a significant amount of weight around my area.

I tow miscellaneous trailers that weigh about 2500#. I did a local tow of my son's jeep on the hauler, only a few miles. I did pull my friends truck and trailer up a 6% grade to get it off the highway. It weighed about 30,000#. I used 4Lo and it was a short 100' pull.

Built it! It's sitting on my side yard right now since I built my front bumper. The only problem with it was that the stock bumper is not structural and it would bounce with the extra weight. Not too bad, it holds the lights fine but it would not take any impacts.

I tow my 18' bass boat all over Texas with no problem.(70 mph) I know it doesn't weigh as much as those cars but it does a good job...

I got stopped by a DPS officer a couple of months ago doing 75mph (down hill) pulling my boat with my JEEP CHEROKEE and he was laughing when he walked up to the Jeep. I asked him what he was laughing about and he said that he didn't think a Jeep would go that fast much less with a boat behind it.(he must have been a 4runner guy)

He gave me a warning.....:banana:

brought this set up back 1600 miles with up to 55mph crosswinds at 7000+ft elevation . Not a bad tow rig at all.

I tow my camping trailer all over, including on a couple level 4 trails:

I also used to tow my 21' boat all over.

Tundra brakes are a great upgrade for towing with these trucks. The problem isn't getting moving... its stopping it fast if you need to.

well i did haul my friends big f150 with a blown transmission on a very big trailer it barely fit on, worked like a sharm

here's my 2k ltd towing my 16ft trailer....upgraded to 231 tundra brakes,3" inch lift,external tranny cooler...should be a lot better now
