Those with RCI front skid

What is the radiator coverage like. Just got mine and I feel like I may need to add some material on the sides to help block any damage to the radiator. I attached a pic of the skids, it's a generic photo and not my runner.

If you are able to get a rock or debris damage up there, you are not driving correctly. You should be good. You should hit your tire, skid before anything hits the radiator.

I too was recently looking at my coverage and have some concerns. I know some might think it's impossible for anything to get up there, but sometimes the trail doesn't give you too many choices. There were plenty of sticks moving around and one of them went through someone's CV boot causing a trail patch and a CV replacement at the next campsite. I know I would prefer the skid to cover the sides of the radiator. I'm looking in to how to add some wings on the side just to help deflect things to reduce the chance of a limb getting up in there.

Interestingly enough, my last road trip I had a bug hit the corner of the radiator perfectly. With that said, if it was a rock or other debris it would have possibly cracked my radiator. Im looking at adding some wings as well. I bought the whole system so replacing just the front would be a hassle.

Front Range offroad also makes a nice set of skids as well.

I run one (man they sure look good) but I also run the ARB bumper and it has a plate that covers the space between the bottom of the bumper to the skid....they share the same bolts ......so mine is covered. I didn't thing mine was open like the pic above so I went out and looked...it is covered as I thought.
It seems strange also but my radiator sure seems to sit higher....as in almost even with the crossbar the skid bolts to. :shrug:

Is yours a manual transmission? Supposedly those are shorter as they don't have the auto trans cooler core on the bottom.

I don't have RCI skid plate. But my front is covers the whole radiator. I do own RCI LCA skid plates. And they hit my front frame area. Hard to explain. But honestly. Not to bash on RCI but they need to redesign their stuff.
