Is there any concern about the strain the extra weight of the diesel would put on the LBJs?

I guarantee that the extra weight of the diesel would be less than a plate bumper and winch.

we have a 4.0, dual vvt-i 4.0, and a 3.4l in the driveway. I'm a former hot rodder and have done engine swaps, nitrous kits, and superchargers. There is a significant difference in power between the 3 engines, but there is no way I would attempt to swap in either 4.0 variant for the 3.4l. I dont see the point, there is not that much difference in power IMO. (They are all weak v6's, sorry guys)

My vote would be a GM gen III , 4.7 v8 Toyota, or a diesel if you are serious about an engine swap. IMO, if you're going to go to all that trouble, it better be worth it. good luck!

Never really thought about the 1KD, nor the weight strain on the LBJs I want to keep my IFS. where can I find a 1KD?

I agree. An extra 50 lbs or so is not going to be noticed or strain your LBJs.
