Thoughts on this..

When I was driving to the run this morning I noticed that when I turned on the head lights switch the brightness on the light of drive(D) went dim,the clock dimmed, and the HVAC lights but nothing else at all. Radio was fine, even turned the interior lights and they did not drain or dim at all when I did it.

I got a reading from the Bat. and the Alt. and both were hitting 15.4. I'm not sure so I thought I would ask you guys. Also, both of those are less than two months old.

After I turned the switch off everything came right back to normal as for brightness.

I'm kinda stumped besides a drain or ground issue or something but everything works.

It's supposed to do that.
All of those lights are bright when its light out (when you don't need headlights) so you can see them better.
All of those lights are dimmer when its dark out (when you need headlights)
It's so you don't have a bunch of bright lights around you at night.

Unless you're talking about them being abnormally dim....

There is no flicker in them and I understand what you are saying on that. I either never noticed it before. It was day light out when I had them on because of the conditions of the road and drizzle coming down. :noidea:

Flicker? I hardly know her!
I think its normal and you just have never noticed it before.

It's a factory feature. As headlights are mainly used at night, the intent is to make the bright lights not as bright, and easier on your eyes.

Completely normal and stardard in every car that I have owned.

It IS a little bizarre that you say your radio does NOT dim... hrmm

The Gear Notifier, or whatever you want to call it on the gauge cluster, is supposed to dim when you turn your headlights on. I have noticed that my clock does it as well. My HVAC doesn't do it anymore because I replaced them with LED's.

They say the brighter the gauge cluster at night, the more it blinds the driver going down the road. (Haha, I like how I said that as if its a theory or something, "This might be a myth, but they say that bright lights, have proven to blind people, more-so than dim lights." Wow, what an observation. Sorry I'm beating myself up.)

Also, do you have the OEM radio, or aftermarket? I got to thinking you might have an aftermarket with either the dimmer wire not wired correctly, or the dimmer function is off, OR the aftermarket radio does not offer dimming...
