Throttle body/IAC gasket

I have some mild idle problems with my 215k-mile 2002 and doubt they will get better on their own. I purchased a new Idle Air Control valve and plan to install it and clean the throttle body.

Which of the gaskets here would go between the TB and the manifold?

Also I'm reading here that there is no gasket between the IAC and the TB? You just "add some gasket-in-a-tube to what's already there"?

Yeah, you cannot remove the IAC from the throttlebody in 02.

I think the Victor Reinz is the right part.

Either the fel pro or the victor is the right part. I use fel pro for all my gaskets but that's just me. The top one is the one between the IAC and the TB.

I can remove the IAC from the TB on my 98... Not sure if the 02's are different.

'01-'02 are throttle-by-wire and Toyota only sells the TB as a single unit. Allegedly the whole thing has to be factory calibrated.

Hmmm - I'll have to get a picture of the part I purchased that's supposedly for my application. Assuming that I have an unneeded part then how are idle problems addressed - remove the TB and clean it?

I cleaned out the IAC from my 2000

Didnt know they made different TBs for newer years.

but anyway if you do/can get them apart. the # 61087 is the correct number for the IAC gasket that goes between the item you bought above and the throttle body.

the two other items from the link is your standard throttle body gaskets that go between the TB and the upper plenum.

Mystery solved with the IAC - I went to the dealer and searched on the part number and also brought up pictures - what I purchased is applicable only up until 2001 - in 2002 the IAC is integrated into the TB.

So - anyone interested in purchasing a new OEM IAC for I guess 99 - 01?

List it on EBAY, someone will buy for sure.

BTW I've read several threads where someone had a high mileage TB (say 150K - 200K) and cleaned it out very good only to find that after re-installing it the engine now revs about 500 RPM higher than normal.

One theory for this seemed to be that by cleaning off the crud the TB was no longer as "air-tight" as it was before the cleaning.

Just something to watch out for. :spider:
