Throttle Body Male Screw

Cleaning my throttle body today, I broke the male bolt that connects to the upper left nut on 08 V8's. I had my tq wrench set to 10 ft/lbs, and I (think?) the bolt had a defect when it was made at the factory. The bolt appears to be steel, so 10 lbs is surly not enough to break it. The other bolts are fine, but now I don't know what to do. I seems the bolt was pressed into the housing, and I am afraid to take it out in fear I would screw something else up. Any ideas? I would rather not take it to a dealer because that will go in the file (not good for warranty), and I can't argue it was machined wrong because I have no proof that I only used 10 ft/lbs. Bit of a dilemma..... The picture is of the bolt.

I looked at my '03 manual, and according to it, both top fasteners are studs mounted on the air manifold, and the bottom fastners are bolts. Unless Toyota changed the design since '03, the other upper fastener, which your pic doesn't show, should also be a stud. If it is, how was it connected to the air manifold? If it was threaded, then the broken one should also be, and you should be able to remove it easily. Then try calling another dealer, and see if you can get a new one. If they did change the design, and there is only one stud (the one you broke), you can still try to see if it is threaded into the manifold and remove it. If it doesn't appear to be threaded, or doesn't remove easily, then I would locate a new stud first, and verify how it is mounted on the manifold before going any further. Otherwise, you may be buying a new manifold assy. There is no way I know of to repair the broken stud, unless you try to weld the broken end onto the stud, which might be very difficult.

Thanks for your reply! On my 08, there is only 1 stud; therefore, I am not sure if it is threaded. I think I'm just going to have to take it to my mechanic because I would hate to break something else and then as you said, "you may be buying a new manifold assy." I was hoping there was an "easy fix" to this, but it seems I am out of my league at this point.

When I went to clean my throttle body assembly I found that this same stud on my 2007 V8 had been sheared. In fact, I just started a thread about the issue.

Mine was broken yesterday

I broke it after cleaning the throttle body. My 4runner is 2022 OR.
Does anyone happen to know the part number?
