Throttle Position Senstion again within 4 years?

I couple year back I got the TPS code, and just cleared the code and it stayed off, but after a few months i still loaded the parts cannon that change the TPS.

Recently about 2 months ago i started driving my 97 around again after sitting for a while (completely dead battery) and the code came back, I cleared it and figured it was just the ECM had cleared and needed to relearn/calibrate after been dead so long. That was fine for about a month but it came back on last week. I cleared it again and has stayed off.

Would the TPS possibly need to be replaced yet again?

Also, not sure if this is related or not, but this morning i got the P0302 (2nd cylinder misfire) Would you think this could be related? bad throttle position causing rich/lean fuel to a cylinder? or should i treat them as unrelated?

cheap after market TPS ?
no the cylinder misfire in one cylinder is not related

I did order online, but it was suppose to be OEM, but the internet is a lair, sometimes.

Co-worked mentioned the TPS being off could have leaned out the fuel.

I guess i will load the parts cannon for the TPS.

As far as the misfire, these are the steps i am going to take, thoughts? Also, so far no pink milk shake.

  1. I replaced the spark plug, no change. tube was dry, plug had a little black, but nothing crazy.
  2. if it was the coil pack it would be Cylinder 5 as well right? but i will still swap coil packs just in case and see what happens
  3. Plug wires are new OEM sometime during covid or just before, but less than 5k miles on them. i will inspect wire for cracks/burns
  4. ordered a compression tester, so test compressing in all but prolly cylinder 6 (not sure if i can get in there)
  5. tear down plenuem and run carb cleaner through injectors (might as well hit them all right?) Injectors are new to me, rebuilt by motor was...2022ish
  6. replace plug wires
  7. replace injectors
  8. ????
