Time for an upgrade?

Unfortunately my truck got backed into today. My wife and I were going to get coffee, we had just parked, and before even making it inside, we heard a smash - followed by the screeching of tires. An F-350 Powerstroke had backed into the front of my 4Runner. Thankfully we were there to witness, and the driver was apologetic and provided all necessary info. I have never had to deal with anything like this in my 22 years of driving. I hope the damage is only cosmetic - the front valence took the brunt of the impact (lucky the guy had a ball to keep the whole truck from making impact). This may be a good opportunity to upgrade to a C4 Fabrication Lo-Pro Winch Bumper - I dig the product and they happen to be closer than the nearest Toyota dealership. Any thoughts or suggestions on getting this resolved? Is there anything that I should be aware of in regards to the drive train? I was in park, and had not set the parking brake. Maybe I'm over thinking things. Any input would be appreciated. Thankfully he missed my new license plates!

I'm still adjusting to the 5th gen forum rather than the 3rd gen so perhaps this is out of line but that's what I'd call "character"! :trophy:

I mean, if you need an excuse for your wife to be OK with you buying a burley winch bumper, go right ahead! But otherwise I'd just get an estimate from a body shop, have the culprit pay you off, and spend that money on something you really want.

And no, your drive train is not damaged in any way.

I understand it's pretty new and it's your baby but good lord man! Pull yourself together! You drive a Toyota truck!

You'd know if you ruined the parking pawl which is the only thing that would get hurt. Not very likely.

Hard to tell the price of the fix, depends on if they bent the aluminum bumper piece. This could go either way in the surprising price category. If you get a high quote for repair just take the money and buy the bumper you want. Otherwise I'd let his insurance pay for this.

I'm with [MENTION=170820]MossJenks[/MENTION]. That's nothing. Plus it's a urethane bumper, and I wouldn't risk having to repaint the entire bumper for that.

Upgrade? Not justified just by that damage. IMO.

So i read tires screeching and thought u were gonna say they hit and ran. It was sound of your tires moving while vehicle parked. This happened to my camry a few years ago. Caught the lady, when she talked to insurance she lied about placement of vehicles, and since it was a parking lot, police would not respond esp since no one was injured. It was a PITA fighting with ins company. Best of luck!
