Time for new bumper... got backed into

I've been wanting a new front bumper but not this way. I was sitting in a diner eating lunch and a 19yo boy that had just been eating at a booth beside me came back in and asked who was driving the green 4runner. He was in a carpet cleaning van and backed over my driver side front bumper. The bumper shifted to the passenger side around an inch and folded the fender up under the parking light enough to pop it out and knocked the fog light way up under the bumper. Do you guys have any suggestions on what kind of "off road" bumper I should get? I'm looking for a nice one at a cheaper price. Also what kind of estimate would you guys think I may get to fix something like this? I've not had time to go by any shops since it just happened. I'm hoping to get a nice estimate and check from insurance company and put on a good solid bumper without all the fiberglass and paint. Thanks guys!!!

Just a guess, but I would say thats around a 6-800 dollar repair with paint.
I paid less than that for my Savage Offroad winch bumper.
Its nice the kid was honest... thats so rare these days

didnt see the part about the fender getting messed up. forget my original numbers, I have no idea, but should be enough for a good bumper and maybe a winch to go with it

Im not sure about the cost of the repair but you should atleast have enough to source an aftermarket bumper. Im glad he came back in to find you, that doesnt happen often.

also you can get a fender for about $35 for certifit or rock auto, that is where i bought mine when I decided to park on a tree.

You should get a good chunk from insurance, enough to buy a fender and a bumper, just probably not enough for paint.

Update - The company who's van backed into me just called and left a voice mail saying they wanted to just pay me and not get insurance involved so their rates won't go up... Time to get some high estimates and see some $$$$$$$!!!!

Who would have thought... first estimate from a reputable shop here is $2733... Everything underneath was bent and radiator mount/support bent also. That is with aftermarket parts, with Toyota Cert. parts would have been 75% and possibly totaled vehicle according to insurance company. Checking with another shop tomorrow.

I would take part of the money and buy a mig welder and a plasma cutter and build my own bumper. After all is done you have a welder and plasma to use for other projects..

I'm a carpenter, can do anything with wood but never tried any metal work. It's always an option though... Thanks for the replies

Getting that core support back correct is a pain. Mine still isn't 100% right after attempting.it myself. I would get 2 estimates. One for a complete repair and one with everything fixed minus a new OEM bumper. The carpet cleaning company doesn't need to know about the second estimate. Then see if you have enough money left over for a new offroad bumper.

Please bear with me I don't have much experience with vehicles... My question is how important is the core or radiator support? I have no leaks and hood opens and shuts as it did before the accident. The guy at the shop told me the support was shifted over slightly but said it wouldn't be hard for him to straighten it out. Any help is much appreciated guys Thanks!!

Continue to do some research but I imagine the core support is pretty important. Just wanted to warn you not to take any partial payment from the company. Once you accept any money from them they're not obligated to pay full amount. I would be leery of them not involving their insurance company. I've seen people get scammed that way. I'm not sure how long you have to report the damage to insurance but you should find out.

I'm going to have to file it to their insurance... I'm also going to accept no less than the estimates I get. I'm going to get an estimate from my local Toyota stealership also. They have a collision center and I imagine they do some pretty high estimates. I know the insurance adjuster will try to make me take way less but I also know that I don't have to.
