Time for new cats and o2 sensors.

Well I'm throwing P0420 which means its time for new exhaust components. I have a Cali-spec 4Runner and I wanna do one of two things:

1. Replace both cats with high flow parts, and order URD rear o2 Sim, and replace front o2.

2. Convert my 4R to single cat, and replace with URD/ o2 sensor - is this doable?

I'm not letting the dealer near my truck (not for a quoted $3,000 job, hell naw). So I've got a friend who is gonna do the work for me for a lot cheaper. Just wanna get an idea to see if a conversion can be done.

Pretty sure 1 Cat won't pass inspection, and will throw a code, just get 2 magnaflow Cats.

Ok so I found the Magnaflow parts, now all I need to find is the front o2 and am gonna buy the URD simulator.

If you know you need a front O₂, I would replace it before I assumed my existing cats were bad, unless they are physically damaged or you know they are plugged up or something. No sense trashing factory cats unless you are sure they are dead. The front O₂ is used to set P0420 as it is a comparison to the rear sensor.

Amazon usually has the best deal on Denso sensors.

X2 Amazon is where I purchased both O2 Denso sensors and the MagnaFlow High Flow Cat. Prior to removing the factory cat, I noticed a sulfer smell, much like rotten eggs. Some say is indicative to the cat going bad. Yet, I had planned on the high flow to enhance the cat-back. Both in unison are functional with the superchargered 3.4L and sound great.

X 1000 Durk's advice will save you hundreds, unless you want high Flow cat's.
