Im getting ready to buy some TRD wheels and throw eithe BFG All-Terrains on them, or Nitto Grapplers...still deciding, open to people's opinions on the two.
One thing i hate aboit having 2 sets of wheels, is that you need a device or go a tire shop to have the TPS sensors recalibrated. My sequoia had stock rims w/ snow tires, and i had 22" forged TRD wherls with Kumos on them. Hated going back n forth to town fair tire to have them recal'd to get that TPS light turned off.
How do you deal with that?

We bought the 4Runner in May, and I spent most of the Summer trying to sort it out. Different companies have different ways of doing the TPMS sensors. Our Acura just reads any four sensors on the car. We swapped wheels all the time and the computer read whatever sensors were on the wheels. Toyota (and Lexus) can only read four codes total.
After not finding aftermarket wheels we liked, we looked on the Toyota lot at other wheels on 4Runners and Tacomas. We then asked the parts department if they had any take off wheels, and they had these from a year or two old 4Runner. We bought just the wheels and center caps from Toyota.
We took the truck to a tire shop and had them read the 4 codes in the original 20-inch wagon wheels. Then they mounted the Blizzaks on the 17-inch winter wheels and cloned the same 4 codes into the new TPMS sensors. No TPMS light, and no recalibrating when I change wheels. The same four codes are in the summer and winter wheels, so the computer (and light) work properly.

I didn't know tire shops could do that! Is this a regular practice? Or something you "gotta know a guy" to get done?
I had the exact same thing done last year when I got winter tires put on a set of TRD Pro wheels for my Trail Premium. I went to an independent tire shop and they offered to clone my sensors on my OEM Trail wheels. It was my first time at this shop and didn't "know" anyone prior.

You should be able to find a place. It seemed pretty routine for them. Remember it is their sensors that have programmable codes, not Toyota sensors.

Remember, we have Alaska pricing. The same SR5 wheels new are $400 each. The take off set was $900 for all four with center caps. They are virtually new, and will get there own scratches this winter.
Add the tires, sensors, mounting and balancing, fees, etc, we were about $2100 all in ready to go, including 24 new lug nuts.

The tire shop you choose should have the programmable TPMS sensors. The Toyota ones are not programmable. The shop can tell you if they can program their sensors to the same codes as your original ones.
When we were researching, the tire shop came out with a diagnostic sensor and read the four original Toyota codes. He then showed me his TPMS sensors and that the programmer would work on a 2017 Toyota 4Runner. The programmer gets updated continually to have the current model cars.

If you have a Discount Tire franchise nearby, that is who did mine. Bought a set of take off wheels privately, my local dealership bought the tires and DT sold me a set of KO2's and cloned sensors. Will be swapping them out in about a month.

"Wagon wheels" - ha ha. I've got a friend with a BP Limited, and I gotta say those skinnies just don't look right to me on a 4R.
Reminds me of a body-builder with bird legs.
When I had a snow set, I just ignored the TPMS light for 3 months. It reset every time I parked in the garage next to the summer set.
How does the spare trigger TPMS if it can only monitor 4?

LOL! I couldnt do that. It would drive me nuts.
When i drive my wife's mazda, i see she leaves the "cruise control" dash light on the entire time, and i turn it off....drives her batty when she's hitting the engage button and nothing happens.
I'll call around, see who can do it.
But now that you've told me this, i WONT buy the Toyota TPMS sensors when i order the new tires because they arent programmable. Thanks you guys.

I am not sure, but both the Toyota parts department and the tire shop said the same thing. I may have even seen it on this board somewhere when I was researching.
Our owner's manual says when you put on the spare, you will get the light if you do not have a Limited Edition. If you have the Limited Edition, you will not get the light. My Limited spare is a full size wagon wheel, so maybe it is the same code as one of the other 4.
