I normally do all the maintenance on our vehicles, but with my daughter being born recently and working overtime its hard to find the time. So I used the mechanic that my parents use and in April of this year, I had the timingbelt, waterpump, EVERY belt, spark plug, fluids etc done. Cost me around 1200 out the door (I supplied timing belt and waterpump). Anyway, my T4R has been running kind of ****ty lately, and for ****s and giggles I pulled the spark plug this morning....

This sure doesn't look like a 5 month old spark plug with maybe 1000 miles on it.

I put plugs in a car once where I ran it for probably 15 minutes and they came out like that. shouldn't have happened, but it did.

how does the electrode look though? from what I can see it still looks alright. on this side anyway.

Damn, its pretty charred looking.... I just dropped new plugs in, by the way, the one on the passenger side firewall is a pain in the ass to get to. -.-

almost sounds like I'd rather pull the starter than remove that plug. haha

Its terrible man, I did the 3 on the drivers side in about 15 minutes, the front two on the passenger side in about 10 or so. Then 30 on that last one.

More importantly, its not a dual ground plug that toyotas require.

Always, let them know before they start that you want all the removed parts saved so you can inspect them. When it comes to the spark lugs you can supply a block of wood with holes drilled in it (a short piece of 2X4) so they can keep them in the order they were in the engine. That way you can see how each cylinder is doing.
