I'm at 145k on my 2003 2wd. I currently have a cornfed 2" spacer up front. After driving my buddies FJ I noticed it's alot smoother ride than my rig. What's the recommended milage to replace shocks for some NEW BILSTEIN 5100's!! thanks

Shocks wear out just like anything else .. visibly they may look fine but inside the oil breaks down and over time they lose their gas charge , also depending on use ...I wheel alot and replace on all my vehicles around 40,- 60,000 miles...or basiclly shocks are replaced about the same time brakes are done ... Shocks make a big difference ...most people dont really notice the degradation over time because its their daily driver and its a slow process of them losing performance.Shocks are cheap enough and Personally I like to keep it riding nice. just my .02

I replaced mine on my 05 at about 120k miles...The fronts were bad....the rears still had some use yet, but I like to replace all the corners at the same time.

There is no mileage rule of thumb. Too many variables... But there are tests...the bounce test is a very good indicator.
