Timing Belt and water pump question

I got a quote from a local Toyota mechanic for the timing belt and water pump. He gave me two option.

Timing belt and water pump only for $450

Timing belt and water pump with cam seal, crank seal, serpentine belt for $725.

It has 111k on it. Didn't know if the cam seal, crank seal and serp belt were a necessity.

I would do the pump tb and serp....from what I understand cam and crank seals are done with the second tb replacement. And that's a fair price btw

Edit- Just saw you have a 2000....i might be wrong about the interval for the cam and cranks, he should know.

Thanks for the input. Agree that its a fair price. Half of what the dealer charges.

Bump, I'm taking it to the mechanic in the AM so would like some more input. Its the v8.

To replace a timing belt you have to remove the serpentine belt...so you might as well replace it.

The cam and crank seals might be necessary. This is a dry system and sometimes the seals dry out and start to leak.

If you can afford it, it won't hurt to replace the seals, but you don't have to unless their leaking and they don't usually tend to like like some other engines. Up to you.

I got it back yesterday. I went ahead and got everything done. I figure since I just bought it, I should go ahead and do everything. He ended up doing the tbelt, water pump, tensioners, cam seal, crank seal, serp belt, spark plugs, and a full synthetic oil change. All for $837, which I still think is a fair price. The plugs and oil I could have done myself but for the sake of time I just let him do it.

That is a great price for all he did especially if he used OEM parts.
