timing belt question

Does anybody know what would cause my timing belt to wear too quick, I replaced it between four and six months ago, and there is bad wear on the backside of the timing belt

Do you mean serpentine belt? As in visible from the front of the engine?

If so, could have pulleys out of alignment. Or chemical spilled on it causing it to breakdown prematurely.
 
Have u checked you idlers to see if one has seized up? The back looks fine, its the middle to front that's the problem.... u can see the cords in it lol.
 
Looks like something is in contact with the front half of the belt. Definitely check anywhere the belt has contact with its backside to see if binding/rubbing or off track.
 
I took a look. None of the pulleys are seized. I will do a closer inspection tomorrow in the daylight.
 
well i replaced the belt yesterday under warranty, didn't see anything abnormal. Not in contact with anything, all pulleys seemed fine and not loose
or anything like that. I will take a look at it over the next few days to see if its wearing in those same spots. I did triple check the routing of the belt .

side note: i noticed a little intermittant squeak yesterday, i can get it to happen most
at slow speeds during a left turn. Not sure if its related or if i have a suspension issue
going on.

i Noticed my cv boots had finally started to leak from the lift, maybe thats what its from?

Axles wont make noise if their just starting to seep. If they are completely dry you'll get a click or grinding noise. Typically a squeak when turning is caused by something suspension or steering wise. What brand belt are you using.
 
More than likely the belt was off by a groove if nothing else changed and all you did was replaced the belt. Basically "defective" (warrantable) belts do not exist. Almost always improper installation is what causes a belt to fail right after installed assuming pulleys are okay.

honestly, i dont remember what brand i chose, it came with a 3 year warranty.

Thankfully the lady at autozone still traded it out under warranty for me even though she thought it was due to improper install. Hindsight, i know i installed it properly, the only thing i can think of is after wheeling in some very deep mud that was a quarter way up the engine, it may have been from that and i just never checked the belt or noticed until recently.
