Timing Belt

Hello everyone, I'm a newbie here. I have just over 80k on an 04 runner. I'm a little concerned that I'm still on the original belt. Should I be overly concerned that there's 8 years on this belt? Also, could someone recommend a timing belt kit. There's so many options, I don't know exactly what to go with. Thanks.

Well first off, :welcome:

I have 140,000 miles on my timing belt, nothing changed. I'm looking to change it this week.

For the timing belt kit, search ebay, or google.

Here is a kit that I'm looking at,

AISIN Water Pump Timing Belt Master Kit Lexus Toyota 4.0L/4.3L/4.7L V8 '98-'09 | eBay

Be sure that the kit will work for you though. Now, It doesn't have to be on ebay either. I don't think that you would need to be worried yet be its good to change it before 100k. Check your manual for maintenance and when to change the belts and parts.

Yes change it and the water pump. Better safe than sorry. I changed mine at 84 months and I only had 57K miles.

I know I'm probably late replying to your topic but to maybe help others out before they change theirs. If you're not the original owner check CarFax. I don't own a 4Runner yet but have look up 20 or so on Ebay and Autotrader and the free CarFax report has been a hit or miss on idicating what has been done. Some cat on here posted a link on the 3rd Gen Buyers Guide to a Toyota web site that allows you to see the repair history for free IF the repairs were documented.
