just got me a tint ticket coming out of work at 0400 am, 30% in the front looks like nothing in the day, but i guess at night it looks dark, this cop pulls me over, really profiled me like a drug dealer, so he called for back up. so any one here from the bay and is a cop who can sign me off? didnt do anything wrong, but i have not ever been ticket for tints b4. heres a recent pic i have, as u can see the tint is not even dark in day light , 30 in the front , 15 in the back.

Did he just give you a fix-it ticket, or an actual violation? Also, IIRC in order to actually give you a ticket, they have to use one of those laser checker devices, or at least they do here in TX.

i think its a fix it ticket, dont really want to take the tints off now, last time a sherrif pulled me over and gave me a fix it ticket for headlights, the clerk said it wasnt a fix it ticket, so i ended up paying a 160 dollar fine, so whose really telling me the truth here, if this tint ticket cvc26708(a) is a fix it ticket, he marked yes on correctable, is it less than 20 bucks to take care of it?

i knoes front windows is not suppose to be tinted, but man, 4am in the morning and its dark, black truck with black windows is dark, i bet u if i didnt rolled my windows down, he thought i was black, yet im asian. im telling u i got profiled like a drug dealer / gangbanger .

A cop can pull you over for tint. In California they typically don't, but on occasion people get them.

Are you talking about the front passenger windows or the front windshield? 30% is legal in Cali. I have 15% on the other car and haven't had a problem yet.

Negative! In California the darkest you can go is 70% (which is the amount of light allow to transfer through) on the front driver and passenger windows.

70% is basically just U.V. protection.

That blows. I had 5% on my front windows on my old corolla and I was pulled over twice for them being too dark. One cop gave me a hard time and was complaining I could be a "gangbanger" and I could "pop" him with the dark windows. I ended up getting a fix it ticket for them, but the funny thing was my mom was driving the car at the time. So she got pulled over and when she rolled down the window she laughed and told the cop "I bet you didn't expect to find me driving this." 30% should not get you fined, but it is Oakland.

I used to live in Cali. Back then tint tix were fix-it tickets. Take off the tint, go to police dept, show your windows, then they cancel your court date so no fines. Or you go to court and pay your fines at that time was $20 (even if you took the tint out). The judge will not step out of his chair to look at your windows. Luckily, i had one of those tint shops that do "Lifetime Warranty as long as you own your car", so i had my windows tinted again. Didn't get a ticket again 'til 2 yrs later. :happens:

Sorry. I got my math backwards on that one. You're right and that's what I was meaning.

I have basically the same black 4runner minus the rims. I have 15% on all the windows except the windsheild. It is kind of dark but I like it. The only place I have ever had trouble was in ND. I wasn't there, the old lady was driving, but they tested it on the road side and told her that it was more like 11-12%. It's way over the limit in ND but I have never had trouble around here.

On my truck I have 5% on the front windows and 15% on the back windows-over factory tint. It was really dark at first but after 6 years it is now lighter than the 15% on the 4runner. At least its not purple yet.

Just my 0.02

That's what I have on my windshield, that isn't much for tint! But just enough for the U.V. protection.

Then take off the rims and put on something less...how do i put this nicely...less drug dealer/gangbangerish?

Or throw on some meaty tires and get it muddy and they will start bothering you about mud flaps instead:D

lulz

Agreed, told you before I think it was on clubrsx, rims are straight ghetto. Get some 17s with some meaty tires. I've gotten tint tickets before, twice on my rsx, but those were added on after tickets for being to low lol.
