yeah i live in lindon, i havent had any run in with these new cops, i came home from texas and they they were, they just got a force like 6 months ago, same with saratoga springs id watch out for them too haha.
Front mud flaps are not required. but let me pull the law...

Check for mud flaps when vehicle has been altered. Mud flaps are required on the rear wheels of all vehicles that are altered from their original OEM specifications. This includes the addition of larger tires and suspension lift kits. (UCA 41-6a-1633)
a. REJECT when:
1) Fenders do not cover the top 50% of the tire.
2) Mud flaps are not present when required.
3) Rear mud flaps are not as wide as the tire.
*NOTE: Rear mud flaps must be directly aligned with the tire or at least as wide as the tire.

I guess I'm glad to live in Colorado since fro the last 18 years I've had well past leagal limit of tint on all my cars and been pulled over alot (especially in my sporty cars and a few in the 4Runner) and tint never came up as an issue but I've never given a cop a reason to ***** about my windows.
One thing that does help when you get pulled over with any kind of tint on windows is have even both driver side windows down when the cop approaches your car.

Man it total bs I live In cedar in southern utah and the cops have nothing between to do then pull over kids with window tint and lifted trucks. I can't even remember how many times my brother got pulled over for 1 and 2% window tint. Me, I got pulled over from my way home from the tint shop! But then you travel 2 hours to Vegas and the cops don't give a rats ass how dark your tint is!

Also you get the pleasure of paying nearly 2X (after taxes) for liquor more than we pay in CA. Example: at Costco here in San Diego I can buy the giant (looks like a 2L) bottle of Bombay Saphire for $27 + taxes (I think $3-4).

As ugly as they look you got to consider other people on the road. Since we have bigger tires then usual it's very easy to catch a rock and launch it wherever. It's probably very unlikely but ..... I don't hve mud flaps but I wouldn't mind putting a set on. Just havent found a good looking one.
A cop can give you a ticket for your wheels sticking out to much on the side if you don't have fenders... It's actually illegal to lift the truck just as it is for a car to be very low. FREEDOM for your Ass

You'll be fine, there is just one UHP that i have found that would pull you over for something like that, and i think he roams around Utah County anyway. Plus with you being out of state I'm sure you wont have a problem

Wow it sounds like in Utah cops are really bored if they are popping people for tint. A cop I talk to said his department wont pull someone over for tint unless they do something else wrong. He said that he doesn't have time to pull people over for tint. When I lived in California where its illegal to have any tint on your front windows I had limo on the front windows and 35% on the windshield and never got hassled with.

Yep the "peace keepers" (funny how they have strayed so far from that) here will pull you over for almost any infraction especially if you modified in any way. [MENTION=37079]GottaBeTRD[/MENTION] was initially pulled over for his headlights but ended up with a tint ticket. I have been pulled over twice for mud flaps. And just for mud flaps. Yet I have one chip in my windshield from a truck with no flaps (was following on a trail). General rule here though is if your from OOS then keep to the posted limit. Other than that you don't particularly have to comply with local safety laws concerning vehicle modification. If you live in Utah and have a vehicle inspected in Utah you have to comply. Hello Idaho for next years registration.

I've had a 2' crack on the passenger side of my windshield and I've decided to wait til I either have to get it registered or until I get pulled over.. and it's been 6 months. No issues. Maybe I'm just super lucky but I've never been pulled over for some BS yet.
If you're out of state it won't matter at all.
I have heard some of my friends getting railroaded by the UHP but I've never had any trouble. I had way beyond the legal tint limit on my old pickup and I never had a problem in the 3 years that I drove it, but now the only reason it passes inspection is because it only gets about 500 miles on it per year... Again, maybe I'm just lucky.
Supercops that will pull you over for even the most minor infraction, exist in every State. The Rookie looking to make a name for himself, is the most likely to pull over everyone he can.
Then again, if your vehicle is in violation of the local laws, it shouldn't be a surprise when you do get pulled over.

I have illegal tint on one of my cars (~20%). I want to have my front 4Runner windows tinted to match the rears. I haven't been pulled over for tint yet, but I have taken a precaution...
Check your state laws. My state has an exemption clause, for those who have greater sensitivity to light. I went to an optician and had my eyes tested. I do have high sensitivity to bright light and that was confirmed by the eye doctor. I then took my prescription to my general doctor and was written a prescription for darker tinting on my car windows. Cops can still pull me over (for anything, or even nothing at all), but my prescription should excuse me from a tint infraction. Also, if I am riding in any other car besides my own, and the driver is pulled over for a tint violation, I can get them excused because I am in the vehicle. Maybe some of you should look into going that route.

No exemption in Utah. In fact asking for one throws on the list of every years medical exams to keep your license.
What is crazy is, there are cops driving around St George with their windows tinted, as well certain high rollers who do. But if your not on the A list, you will get pulled over by the revenuers, and have to fixit, and pay their wages for the day.
Its a stupid law, and in reality a presumptive stop law for fishing, just like the seat belt law in this state,(I guess they ran low on tinted windows,)...here is how it goes:
You get pulled over. Your windows are illegally tinted. Are you trying to hide something?

Willbgood, is that the end of the story? It was pretty good reading up till it ended.
I am so glad I live in GA, I run 20% on the fronts and 5% over all the backs... We can actually paint our windows (Excluding the front three ) legally. I honestly don't even know what our law is % wise. I have always ran 20% all over for 20 plus years and then when I have had any suv, the back doesn't matter how dark.

Living in a large city in South Georgia, cops have more important things(murder, trafficking, etc.)to do than to write tickets for petty crimes. The shop that tinted my windows said cops
Bring their personal vehicles over to their shop all the time. Oddly enough they won't give you a receipt or take credit/debit if you pay for illegal tint. I've had 20% for a year now with nothing happening and now plan on tinting my whole windshield probably 50%.
