Tire choices

Am looking to replace the factory tires on my 2017 Off Road to a little more aggressive tread. I do not want to change tire size and I do not want hard core off road tires and don't feel I need Load range E. Just something better than the Bridgestone Duelers. And because of past experiences, Good Year is not an option for me.

These are what I have considered so far: Toyo Open Country SL load range, Cooper Discoverer AT/3, BF Goodrich TA KO/2 (might be a little more aggressive than I want) and the Goodrich has no tread warranty while the other two do. The other two are also less expensive, however cost is not as important as getting what works for me.

General Grabber AT2. Very similar tread to the KO, quiet, 60% the price, 60,000 mile tread life and available in a passenger rating. I'm on my second set and still very happy with them.

Fallen Wildpeak AT3/W on mine. In stock size it's actually a 32" tire, runs a little big for the size. No rubbing issues on stock suspension, though, and great in the snow if that's a consideration for you.

I just recently went with the BFG KO2's. Very happy with them. Previously had Goodyears and didn't like the highway hum on the Goodyears. Very happy with the ride comfort and road noise level of the KO2's.

I recently went with the Falken Wildpeak AT3's as well, but in a more aggressive 285/70. I have heard NOTHING but good things about them. Which is great considering almost everyone has one or two negatives about other tires on the market.

Falken Wildpeak ATW3 P265/70R17. All terrain, all season, three peaks ( snow rated ) and slight aggressive sidewall design FTW. They weigh slightly more than the Dueler H/T 684. This is good thing because now the truck feels more "planted" when accelerating and going over bumps on the road.

Finally the price... $125.00 per tire, $60.00 for shipping, $64.00 for mount/balance/TPMS valve kit and sold my Duelers for -$70.00.

Total: $624.00 tax included minus $70.00 equals $554.00. If anyone can beat that price for (4) good all terrain tires let me know.

re: Tire Choices

KO2 = awfully soft rubber...IMHO. The AT2 = good but lacking in mud, but pretty good in drier dirt/rain/snow/crud.
Very short time on KO2 and truth told I didn't take them offroad/dirt during that time, just way too soft for dirt/offroad along with paved.
My KM2 experience = outstanding offroad/dirt. Better than average wear, though not the greatest ride on paved..but pretty good= a little loss in mileage, but so smooth once on dirt/offroad.

I would not go offroad in the desert with P rated tires, so I run the BFG A/T in a LT. I have used BFG's since they came out and never had a failure beyond a flat on the street or dirt. I got my last set for $200 each OTD from 4 wheelparts delivered!

Have a new set of wheels on order, and will put BFG KO/2s on them next week. Ran the KOs on my Jeep GC for 4 years and loved them. A bit loud on the pavement, but great off-road performance. Looking forward to the new tires, and will post thoughts once I'm running. Planning a 1500 to 2000 mile road trip soon.

Stock wheels and suspension. I'm going to have them put on Wednesday, but I already knew they were going to rub, so I made the proper adjustments with the fender mod. I should be in the clear now, as I free'd up about an extra 3.5" of space inside the fender.

I paid $670 for 4 Nitto G2's p-rated with install, certificates, taxes at discount tire. Still have my TOR wheels and Tires that I'll sell on craigslist likely.

It's going to ultimately come down to your personal preference. I spent days reading through posts and finally settled on the BFG KO2 in 275/70r17. On stock TRD Pro Wheels, no lift. To me personally I noticed only a tiny increase in road noise, an improved ride over stock, outstanding off-road performance and no rubbing. We drive some rough roads with large granite rocks to hike trails up here in the PNW and I'm glad I went with the LT E rated tire. I was a little hesitant based on how aggressive the KO2 looks but on road it is surprisingly quiet and I'm impressed. Just a note, I've only had mine for about two months so I can't speak to any snow or rain performance, or wear but otherwise I am happy with my purchase. I ordered through 4wheelparts with free shipping, they paid sales tax, and gave a gift card. I hear that discount tire will match their price. I also sold my stock wheels and tires w/ 2k miles separate for $400 tires and $400 rims on Craigslist.
