Tire fitment question- FJ swap Daystar

I have been soaking in as much info as I can on this website. I think I have decided to go with the FJ springs with factory Bilstein shocks and the Daystar 2.5/1.5. I have decided to go with a set of BFG all terrains to go with them. I have the factory wheels on my 06 SR5 4x4. With that being said with that lift can I fit a 275/70/17 without rubbing or would I be better off with a 265/70/17? Would like to avoid trimming if I can, but am willing to do it to make them fit. I know these tires are a little "boxier" than other tires. If I decided to run Spidertrax wheel spacers would that help? Please let me know. I'm trying to get all this figured out!

Problem is that it's not a quick answer. Check it the below thread if you haven't already.

Short answer would be that either size will fit to the best of my knowledge.

On the 275 you risk rubbing on the inside or UCA/etc, but I think you'd be fine?

The 265 will fit no prob on the inside.

You will need to do the 30 min moving the fender liners forward truck either way. And maybe rub on the mud flaps.

Spidertrax will help for the inside, but will still need to move the fender liner forward and the mud flaps potentially.

My opinion with that setup... Go with the 275. You can start with no spidertrax, but if you need them you can always get them after if rubbing on the inside. Our you could just get them anyway from the start.

Hopefully this helps.

Probably going to have minor rubbing with either. The 275's should clear the UCA and would require trimming/moving of parts. If you're that concerned about rubbing, get the 265's. Wheel spacers will help clear the UCA with wider tires, but will cause more rubbing in other areas.

What parts would need moving? How would adding wheel spacers cause rubbing in other areas? I thought the idea of spacers was to "push" the wheel out farther? Thanks for the reply. I really do appreciate the help!

With 265's, move the fender liner forward and you should be good. 275's, you should be able to move the fender liner forward and clear, but more may be required. Other areas would be trimming the edge of the front bumper and trimming/removing the front mud flaps. The 275's should clear the UCA, but that's going to be very close. Near the bottom of this page, it details the fender liner and bumper parts:
Toyota 4Runner Wheel Spacers

You're right, wheel spacers push the tire out further. Take a look at your 4runner with the wheels pointed straight ahead. The spacers will push the tire straight out to the side. Now, turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and look at the driver side. Now, think about pushing the wheel/tire out, it'll be pushing further towards the bumper now. If you turn the wheels the other way and imagine pushing the tire out further, it will be pushing further out towards the mud flap.

I ran 255/75/17's with only 1.5" lift in the front (these are the same height as the 275/70, just narrower). I had no rubbing at all. I added wheel spacers and had to move the fender liner forward and remove (or trim) the mud flaps. Wheel spacers definitely increase rubbing in these areas, but may be required to clear the UCA with the 275's.

ahh ok. I guess I wasn't thinking about the fact that when you turn your wheels it would rub on the fenders and such. I have no problem trimming the fenders. Not sure how I feel about cutting up my bumper though. I know its only a little, but would prefer not to. I'd hate to go with the 275's and find out they rub real bad, but I'd like to go with the taller tire. Decisions, decisions...

The bumper part is detailed in that link I posted. It's VERY minor and I feel like you won't need it unless you add wheel spacers. However, every rig is different so I always mention it as a possibility.

You clearly are more knowledgeable on this topic, so in your opinion do you think the 275's would fit without rubbing if I moved the fender liner in? Looking at that link it does look like it would be very minor trimming, but I think I'd be more worried about it rubbing the UCA because its not in the budget to have to order a new set of those. I'm still searching for the FJ shocks/coil setup and these tires are going to set me back a bit! Thanks again for all your help!

Agreed on the very minor to the bumper. It really doesn't change the way your ride looks or anything after. Don't be worried about that part in the least.

When I first heard about trimming bumpers and fender liners, I was a little nervous too, but it's really nothing. No negatives with doing the trimming.
