tire monitor light

well i replaced the sensor for the flat tire monitor for the spare. i never went to the dealer to register it. my light on the cluster would just flash forever.it is annoying but between me being busy and lazy to go to the dealer i would just allow it to flash. until 3 days ago it stopped flashing and now its solid on.
is it possible that it registered itself, i'm going to check the tire pressure tomorrow but does anyone have an idea why it was flahing and all of a sudden its on solid. i know blinking means there is an issue with the unit and solid means low or flat tire. thats why i'm notsurewhat happened...has this happened to anyone else?

It didn't register itself. The flashing went solid because you are low on air at one of the other 4 working sensors. Check all your pressures and correct the low one. Then your light will flash again.
Did you save (document) the serial numbers from the new sensor before you installed it? The stealer will need them to register it. How much was the sensor? Let us know how much they charge to register it.

I just took off my spare to sell it and the tire pressure sensor went solid as soon as it was gone. It never flashed and the other 4 tires are not flat or low! Wonder why mine wouldn't flash if it was missing vs. Low? :wtf:

i don't know why, but when i bought my truck there was no spare and the light was always flashing

The light will only flash after a certain amount of continuous ignition on time (60 minutes on my '04) with a fault detected (no signal from a TPMS.) This timer resets every time the ignition is cycled on. I know this from changing out to my set of snow steelies without sensors every fall. I recently did the light override switch install (check in the link in my signature) so I don't have the blinking light all winter.
Maybe something has changed with the system design in recent years.
