tire options

I need some help here. I have read through way too many threads at this point.
I have a '99 Limited 4WD. Stock size is 265/70-16.

I ~think~ the largest tire that will fit is a 265/75-16.

I want tall and skinny, but no lift(well, i guess i would consider a 1" BL if needed).

The '99, as I understand it, has the most stock lift of the 3rd gens.

Are there taller/skinnier options for the this model than the 265/75-16s?

BTW, very little off road- dirt trails, fire breaks. 95 percent on road.

Thanks for comments and tire opinions.

volkinator, "If you want to go even taller... 255/85r16 is the next one, which comes out usually just over a 33"

Thanks for your reply.

I had found some comments on the 255, but will that fit without a lift?

Anything is possible with a big enough hammer/saw... But probably not without doing some trimming/pounding. The 235/85r16 is probably the best bet, the 265/75r16 fits pretty well without a lift as well. so shouldn't be an issue, there should be some others running the skinny. I know I've seen it around, might be hard to find the tire though. There're only a few options for the 255/85 that I know of. It's not as common

I wanted tall and skinny without adding any lift.

That's the 235/85R16:

just for fun, metric tires sizes are so fun!

235 = 235 mm width (~9.25 inches wide)
85 = 85% of that width is the sidewall height (0.85 * 9.25 = 7.86). Add the 16 and two sidewall heights 16" + 2(7.86) = 31.72
16 = 16 inch rim.

I can not find the 235s in anything but E rated. I expected that from my searching but tried anyway.

I am a little concerned that the E rated are going to be too harsh as this is our family travel vehicle in addition to being my DD.

So, if I want taller and skinnier with no lift there are no other options? Taller and the same OEM width will be 265/75-16.

The 235/85:16's on my truck (studded snow tires) are 32" tall. But load range E. Which you don't like. On a 6" wide rim.
