Tire Options

I need some advice on my tire options for a set of 20x9.5" rims.

This is what I have so far:

BFGoodrich g-Force T/A KDW 2 - 265/50/20
Hankook Ventus ST RH06 - 265/50/20
Yokohama AVS ST - 265/50/20
Falken Ziex S-TZ 04 - 265/50/20

Yokohama Geolander H/T-S G052 - 275/45/20
Bridgestone Dueler H/P D680 - 275/45/20
GoodYear Eagle GT II - 275/45/20
Hankook Ventus ST RH06 - 275/45/20

I'm really not leaning towards the 45 series wheels b/c of the difference in overall diameter. My first choice based on my research is the Hankook's in a 50 series? Any opionions would be greatly appreciated.

BFG's

Yeah you deff need to go with the BFG's. I just got them on mine and they are the best. Here is a thread i started and just today i chimed in because they now have about 3 thousand miles on them and i was just letting everyone know what i thought and how i liked them so far!

I would look at the Toyo Proxes S/T

in the 265/50R20 size.

I hear the Toyo's are prone to more road noise than the Hankook's.

Could be, I've never owned a set of the Proxes S/T tires.

I do currently have a set of the Toyo Open Country AT tires however, and they are quiet for an AT tire.

About the same noise level as the Michelin LTX M/S tires I had previously.

I am also considering the Hankook RH06.
I have been looking all over and can't find anything negative about them. The price is good, the tires have gotten great reviews, and they seem to be the most all-weather friendly of the tires available in this size.
I also agree about the 45 series tires.
Have you considered the 285/50/20?

I like the extra rim protection that this would offer.

If you are not concerned about weather (rain and light snow) like I am, the BFGs are a well proven tire.

Cleric... here's what the tire calculator says about the difference:

OEM 265/65/17: Speedometer1: 60 mph 100 km/h
NEW 285/50/20: Speedometer2: 58.7 mph 97.8 km/h

Speedometer Difference: 2.161% too slow
Diameter Difference: 2.12%

I was thinking about going a little wider but I don't know how much wider. What have you found?

I've been doing a lot of checking-out of SUV's with rims. I want to see someone with a tire of this size on a 9"or 9.5" wheel to get a feel for how it would look.

The thing about the tire size calculator is that there are other variables, not being accounted for. I have also heard that actual tire sizes vary by brand.

If it looks and handles well, I would definitely go with the 285s. The other concern is that they may rub the inside of the wheel wells. I figured if I could find the time, I would talk to my local Discount Tire. The guys there are usually pretty knowledgeable and helpful.
