Tire pressure for BFG KO2's

I replaced the stock Bridgestone Duelers with the same size BF Goodrich KO2's on my 2017 Trail Premium. The Toyota recommended tire pressure for the Bridgestones was 32 psi. What pressure should I run in the KO2's? I asked BF Goodrich on their helpline, and they said 50 PSI, which seems ridiculously high.
Any help?

the original tires were 4 ply, are the new ones 6ply?

I run mine at 38psi, after driving around usually ends up at 40 which is perfect for me.

You can use 32 psi, but the load rating of the TAKO2s will not be the max load rating for that tire unless you use 50 psi

I run mine at 40psi. Have been for 43,000 miles. I have even treawear, no cupping. I still have at least 20k miles left.

For KO2 265/70 R17 C-rated 50 psi is max load inflation, that is the most air you should put and drive in that particular tire to support the max load rating per corner. Some one please correct me if that is wrong, not a tire expert.

That said, it depends, I generally drive at 37-40 depending. Road trip I will put a few more PSI and get minuscule better mileage, little lower around town as our roads are pretty shot.

I think 50 psi is for the max load that tire is rated to carry, but not the max inflation pressure for that tire. Just like on our stock passenger rated 113 load tires, 32 psi is required to carry the max load rating of the stockers ( and thus are spec'ed to carry the vehicle's designed GVWR and GAWR), 32 psi is not the max inflation pressure.

I run mine at 45psi (E-rated). I was running them at 32 initially. The change in PSI increased my MPG by 1.5. Worth it to me. No noticeable ride discomfort.

after doing the chalk test on mine, ran my tires at 41 front and 39 rear.

I recently did the chalk test and found the following pressures best for even tread wear on my 275/70R17 KO2 E rating:

Front: 40 psi
Rear: 38 psi

If I use 40 psi on the rear tires the center of the tires wears faster than the outsides.

Right thanks! "max load inflation" I suspected I said something wrong :redface:

EDIT:Something else I forgot to mention along the same lines is how much weight or extra weight do you carry, that will make a difference on your tire pressure.

I run my c-rated at 40 psi. I will be heading out on a long road trip from MN to CO in a few weeks and may bump it to 42-45 psi to try and get better mpg. I don't know about others but the tires looked flat at 32 psi, to me.

OP, you can do the math on the psi/load weight rating for each tire and see where you should run your tires for the desired load.

This. Just find the load inflation tables and interpolate to figure out what tire pressure you need to be running on the E-rated ko2s to maintain the same load rating. I believe it comes out to somewhere around 43psi.
