tire pressure light / nokian hakka

Installed Nokian Hakkapeliita 275/60/17 studded tires. Side walls recommend 40-44lbs PSI. Tires are pumpeed to 40lbsPSI. TMPS ligh is on. Should UI frop the pressure to 32lbs PSI? Does the TMPS come on if the pressure is too high?

Any one tried it at 40lbs PSI?

The light comes on if any one of the tires, including the spare, is at or below 27 PSI. There is no maximum.

If the light started to come on after the tires were installed, I would check to make sure that the installer did not damage the TPMS stem. I had that problem, and the guy who installed the tires told his manager that the TPMS was "just laying inside the tire when he removed it from the wheel."

Needless to say, I didn't let them get away with that complete BS, and impossible, story, and they paid for a new monitor and a trip to the dealer to have it programmed. The cost was several hundred dollars.

Now when you say it is on, is it blinking or a constant on? If it's blinking, then most likely one of the sensors is not working correctly and possibley was damaged when your tires were installed. If it's a constant on, then normally this is low tire pressure (including your spare).

When my TPMS stem was damaged, they just replaced it with a regular rubber stem and tried to send me on my merry way. The TPMS warning light was on constantly, which is what made me look at the wheels and tires. That's when I noticed the rubber valve stem on one of the wheels. The TPMS light did not blink in this situation.

Check your wheels to be sure that they all have the OEM TPMS valve stem in them.

toto -Forgot about the spare. !! Will climb under the rig and see if that is the culprit.

Baba Booey - they did tell me "next time it is $10/wheel extra for TMPS. Wonder if they @#$% it up and decided to warn about the sensors extra charge !!

sharp4runr - the light is on constant. never blinked. the studded tires are at 40psi each ./.. .gotta check the spare.... dang the rig is on frozen tarmac now !!!

Side wall stays maximum, not recommended.
With 275/60 stay at 32psi. If it's not enough, go to 35psi.

Nokian WR Tire Pressue

I am having problems keeping the Nokian WR Tires properly inflated on y 05 4Runner. A friend had Nokian's on an Avalon, same problem. Anyone else having issues? Toyota set them all to 32PSI about 2 weeks ago, and the light is on again. Any ideas?
