Tire Pressure

Ok guys I'm just curious as to what tire pressure everyone is running in their tires? Wondering if there is a sweet spot for best comfort/tire wear. I'm running BfG mud terrain km2 load range D and the tire shop put them at 40 PSI and they rode too rough so I dropped them down to 35 and it is much better now. What is everyone else running??

Start with whatever tire pressure is recommended for your load range then perform a chalk test. Add or remove air accordingly until you have an even contact patch.

I don't see any recommended tire pressure on them I only see the max psi for max load rating

It's whatever the factory recommends plus whatever load index your tire is. I've seen many charts posted that give you a ball park idea but you should perform a chalk test IMO since every vehicle differs.

This should also be done when the tires are warm.

Having worked at a tire place for a couple years we were always told that you never go by whats on the tire. You go according to the placard on the driver door. I have 265/70/16's on my 4Runner and have 32 psi all around with no issues. Hope this helps...

That only works well for stock size and tire types, once you change size/load range everything can change. I run close to 45 in my Falken load range E to keep the tread wear even.

I have Cooper AT3s, 265/75, load range C. I run them at 40 psi. Good ride, and just over 1 mpg better than at 32 psi.

You draw a chalk line across the tire tread and drive slowly and straight a short distance, then check for even chalk removal across the tread.

If that is how you drive your truck on a daily basis, it works well.

29-30 PSI for me.

I need about 31-32 for the thread to all contact, the 1-2 PSI lower is for comfort and winter traction.

I will drop further on a really slick back road. I have a C02 tank if needing to adjust.

I think I ran 35-36psi in my 285's and 36-38psi in my 265's.

I've always thought the smaller the tire, the higher the psi unless specified for specific work loads. Ex: previous Econovan150 I had for work called for specific tires with like 70psi!!!

Honestly, the absolute best way to test has been stated.. The chalk test.
