Tire Question

I just replaced the tires on my 1999 2wd 4runner with Michelin LTX M/S tires.
My question is, what should be the proper psi that these tires should be inflated to. On the sidewall of the tire it says the max is 35, on the inside of the door the cold tire pressure is 29, when i received the 4runner back after having the tires installed they were pumped up to 35psi, since then i lowered it to 33

Officially, the tire manufacturers will tell you to use the figures on the inside of the door (29 psi, in your case). The figure on the tire is the maximum cold pressure for the tire.

However, you can adjust a bit up and down between these numbers to find the handling and ride best for you. Most of us driving 4th generation models run higher than the door says (32 psi in our case) but well below the tires (depends on the tire -- mine say 51 psi maximum).

Underinflating will cause heat build up and lower tire life. Overinflating will cause the tire to wear early, too.

If your new tires are the same size as the stock size, then USE THE PRESSURE ON THE DOOR JAM. Do not use the pressure on the tire.

right now i think they may be a bit overinflated because the full tread is not on the road...
i am sure on the door it says 29 so maybe i will adjust it to 31
