i could by some 285/65/r18 bfg all terrains for $400. they are used with 15k miles on them. i think they are 10 ply and E rating. would that ride terrible on a 4runner and does that sound like a good deal?

I have 265/75's that are E loaded and they're definitely stiff and heavy. Takes a lot to get 'em going.

That being said, $400 for a set with 15k on them is a steal.

It's definitely overkill for a 4Runner but for the price you can run them for a while and sell them if you don't like them.

So I went ahead and got them. I ended up paying 360 bucks. They feel a lit smoother than my old tires but just as stiff. Can tell any difference in mpg or anything yet. But I have a question: does driving with ECT power on give you better mpg when running 285's or was that a myth. I remember a thread about it a while back and have been doing it ever since but people keep telling me it's not better for your gas milage. Any opinions on the matter?!
