Tire recommendations

I go through a lot of tires due to work travel, so I typically call Discount Tire (who actually has locations in my new(er) residence and Tire Rack for recommendations - then pick the cheaper of the two.

Thought I'd ask here as well.

Wife has a 2017. A bit of a mall crawler as it transports my 19 month old and is the primary vehicle as we aren't putting a car seat in my work car, truck, etc.

Weather is pretty mild here in Oklahoma less the tornadoes and wind. Makes some trips back to the Midwest so having some snow ability isn't terrible, but would be a factor 1X per year at most.

Car sees a lot of miles. Almost 40K since purchased 6/17.

I love quality, but am cheap. Champagne taste. Beer budget.

I have some Continental "sport yet good tread warranty/does ok in rain" tires on my work car, some Bridgestone "lasts 4K but you'll enjoy the ride" on my Z, and I forget what I got on my truck. Whatever they told me to get, the age kills them before the treadwear.

Hit me with your recommendations or yell at me for not searching. It isn't Festivus just yet.

Great in wet and dry conditions. Smooth and quiet for an all-terrain. You also will get very good all terrain traction if you happen to venture away from the mall. 60k warranty.

You might want to look into the Kumho Crugen HT51. I don't actually have any experience with this one, but I was just researching it for my wife's Rav4 and thought it looked great. It's a highway all-season with a good tread warranty but does carry the mountain snowflake winter rating so you wouldn't have to worry about it for your occasional treks into snowier regions. Seems to run maybe $130/tire around here and has good reviews.

That is a smaller size and LT tires, which will be a little harsher ride. I was recommending these.

My family has had many sets of Michelin LTX tires on SUV and PU trucks. Last 2 sets I got close to 100k miles of primarily highway driving. Never had a blowout and Michelin replaced a set on my son’s SUV, without a fight, when I noticed mild cracking on the side walls. I wouldn’t go cheap on tires with wife and kids.
Tires make a big difference on vehicle handling especially in adverse weather.

I also have had good dealings with Discount Tire over the last 15 years.

Since you are cheap, my recommendation would be the Discount Tire specific "Pathfinder" (made by Kelly). You can get an AT (55 k warranty) for a more aggressive looking tire at $155 or you can get the less aggressive HT for $135 (60k warranty). Make sure you get the SL version not the E1 version. Reviews are always good on these tires. The AT is a much better looking tire on a 4Runner but it's $20 more and has 5k less warranty. I'd get the AT and pay the extra.

There are cheaper tires such as the Atturo Trail Blade A/T and the Cooper Evolution HT but I don't know anything about those tires. The Cooper Evolution HT has a 60k warranty so that is intriguing at $116 a tire.

I second the Kumho Crugens that are highly rated on tirerack.com. I put a set on my last Tacoma before traded in for a 2019 4R TRD Off-Road Premium. The Crugens road great and gripped well in the rain. I always used Michelin LTX's before that and these were comparable at about 25% lower cost.
