Tire Selection

Hi,

I have a Daystar 2.5/1.5 lift on my 07 Limited. I wanted to upgrade to 265/65/18 but the selection is very limited as many know. I know that the 265/65/18 will not rub or thats what i've been told. I wanted to know how much rubbing i will run into with the 275/65/18? I've searched the site but i like to get more experience up-to-date responses. Also, is their any trimming involved.

One more question about Spider trax spacers. are they installed for a wider stance or for clearance issues?

FYI, I plan on installing a OME, ICON, or OW lift once my shocks fail. What do you all prefer?

Any info is greatly appreciated.

What I really need to know is if I need wheel spacers to install 275/65/18? Especially with my current lift being slightly smaller than most that have a minimum of 3".

Anyone with 275/65/18's with out spacers? I'm upgrading my tires soon and need to knwo asap if 275/65/18 will do with out crazy mods or if i should just go with the more expensive 265/65/18?

I currently run 275/65-18's with my OME setup and Light Racing UCA's, however, before this I had the DS 2.5/1.5 running the same tires and the only rubbing I had was minimal on the inner fender liner, which I just pulled forward. So, to answer your question, yes you can run 275's without spidertrax. However, you might want to consider that some tires vary in sidewall design which could cause rubbing. For example, the BFG A/T's might rub more seriously than the Nittos that I have. But, most tires in 275, I think, will clear your UCA's just barely, but will clear. Hope this helps.

Darn!! I was going to get the BFG All Terrains due to my past experience! I need a very good AT's that are in excellent in snow rom past experience with BFG use in Rochester, NY i know they work excellent in those conditions as well as very good wear. They were on a 19978 V8 Explorer which was a reliable vehicle that got me through many hair situations!!

Thanks! Keep the input coming! I just need to find a reason to get the 275 especially since they are $200 less expensive then the 265.

I like the looks of my stock 18 rims and would just get 16" or 17" for off-road tires but then i have the tire monitor issue.

275/75/18 - 32.1, section width 10.8, Section height 7

Nytefog... I'm in the same boat right now. I'm very close to pulling the trigger on a Toytec Ultimate Lift (3in.) I've got an 06 limited and I'm looking at either BFG AT's in that size, Nitto TG's, Cooper Discoverer S/T's or maybe a Cooper Zeon in a 285/60R18. From what I know... I shouldn't have any issues with a 275/65R18... I'm just not sure about the Daystar 2.5/1.5.
