Tire Size Question? 255/75/r16

Hey everyone, I am getting ready to trade in my wife's Ford Expedition tomorrow which has near new Dueler 255/75 r16's on it. Will these tires fit on my 4runner which has 265/75/r16's stock. It would be great if they did because I could switch them over before we traded it away. Need help before morning if possible.

I'm no tire expert

I do feel those will fit, a 255 would be just a slightly shorter sidewall as I understand it.

So if a 265/75 fits your Runner okay-a 255 should fit with slightly more gap from top of tire to bottom of the wheel well.


Call Discount Tire there in Grand Junction and I would think that would be an easy question for them to answer for sure.

Also TireRack.com has a wealth of info, just pretend you are shopping for that size in question and see if it allows that fittment to your Runner.

It will fit but be 10mm narrower and slightly shorter.

J.A.s post is correct. Just to clear things up ..in a tire size, we will use 255/75R16 as an example, the 255 would be the width in millimeters and the 75 is a percentage of that first number (255), and then obviously the 16 being the size wheel this tire will fit on.
