Tire Size Question

Ok well I have been needing to get front tires for about 2 month and I just got a coupon for $70 off 4 Michelin tires. Well the truck has 225/75R15's on it but when I called the shop they said that that size was discontinued with Michelin. He suggested using 235/75R15 and he relay wanted to avoid going taller. So I'm wondering what sizes I have to play with on a completely stock 01 Runner.

O and I was quoted $527.90 for 4 Michelin tires with the coupon... I forgot what they where but their not the cheapest model they have. I think it was 121.60 Each

265/75/16 stock is what the highest recommendation is. But you'll also be paying more the bigger You go, remember that.

I have been running 265/75/16's for a year now and they are MT's and only rubbed on the front bumper valance, so with Michelins You will be good if You decide that size.

Don't go with the 235/75's! You can fit a 31x10.50 on there and it will look a lot better than the 235 or 225. You won't rub and it will make the 4runner look a lot better.

I was gonna say the same thing, just go with 31s.

Well can I get that size from Michelin and how much more are they.... I feel bad about dropping $520 with a coupon..

You'll have to ask the tire shop those questions. I'm sure Michelin makes lots of tires in 31x10.5/15.

It will be more than $520 if you get the 31's. It all depends on the type of tire you are trying to buy. The LTX M/S is a great tire, but it will be around $7-800 for a set. They will last you forever though. 31x10.5 is a very common tire size so shop around.

ouch. Thats a drop in the bucket that I can't do at this point. I also have to do the entire suspension soon, and get a trailer working. I think I need the 1.5" spacers in the back so thats more money that I don't have.

Well..... Anyone have pics of there Runners at stock height and running the 31x10.5s..... I mite end up biting the bullet if they will last and look good doing it.

You can get cheaper tires than Michelins. Michelins are typically the most expensive tires besides when you buy mud terrains and all terrains. Yokohamas are good tires and cheaper. Not too many people stick with the 15" tire though, so just look for people with 265/70/16's and that should give you a good reference.

buy some 31x10.5 general grabber AT2's for the same price or less. Great all around tire.
